Job summary

AtkinsRéalis in Canada seeks a Senior Project Controls leader to drive cost and schedule control for a major engineering project. You will lead a team of planners and cost controllers, oversee CPR, and ensure effective change control and reporting to senior management.

You will mentor junior staff, collaborate with clients and alliance partners, and contribute to the continued success of complex nuclear-influenced projects in a hybrid work environment.

Qualifications

• Post-secondary education in a field such as B.A., B.Sc, B.Eng, or B.Com, or equivalent senior project controls experience.
• Minimum 15+ years in project cost and schedule control; 5–10 years in leadership roles.
• Nuclear experience is an asset.
• Proficient with MS Office, especially Excel.
• Thorough knowledge of Primavera P6.
• Strong PMBOK/ PMI practices including CPM, earned value, and reporting.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to lead and mentor staff and work with senior management.

The selected candidate will be key to support the strategy and execution of the successful development and management of a project.

Your role

• Oversee and lead Project Controls execution.
• Participate in the proposal activities of a project.
• Participate in developing, enhancing adhering to project controls processes and procedures are in place.
• Develop and lead Project Controls execution for the project.
• Ensure partners and affiliates are apprised through reporting and status updates.
• Responsible for smooth operation and and management of project controls teams.
• Identify and resolve issues, key variances and develop corrective action planning.
• Report to a Project Controls Director.
• Create functional team and Lead a team of Planners and Cost controllers and conduct performance evaluations.
• Lead Cost Performance Report (CPR) process.
• Effectively lead the implementation and management of change control.
• Stakeholder interface with respect to scope.

About You

• Possess post-secondary education i.e. diploma or degree B.A., B.Sc, B.Eng, B.Com, PMP, AACE, or possess equivalent relevant industry experience in senior roles within project controls and or project management. A minimum of 15+ years of experience in Project cost and Schedule control is required, including 5-10 years in leadership roles managing within complex engineering and construction project environments.
• Nuclear experience is considered an asset.
• Proficient in MS office suite of software, especially in Microsoft Excel.
• Preferably thorough knowledge of Primavera P6.
• Demonstrate problem solving abilities, including the ability to learn new software as per the company standards.
• Expert knowledge of PMBOK/PMI project management techniques including hands on experience applying on large projects. i.e. critical path method planning, progress measurement and earned value techniques, analyzing data, and complex project reporting.
• Strong knowledge of the general project controls policies and procedures.
• Strong organizational skills and attention to details are required.
• Ability to establish priorities and work under pressure to meet project deadlines.
• Effective problem-solving and analytical skills with a results-oriented approach.
• Ability to work well with Clients and Alliance partners.
• Ability to develop, build and maintain good working relationships leading a Project Controls team.
• Ability to communicate effectively to senior management.
• Ability to mentor junior and intermediate staff and work with senior project cost controller.
• Strong communication, report writing and presentation skills.
