Job summary

A leading oil & gas company in Calgary, AB is seeking a Project Controls Advisor to ensure capital projects are executed safely and efficiently. NSB Omega is searching for a Project Controls Advisor for our MAJOR Oil & Gas Client in Calgary, AB

Assignment Description

We are seeking a Project Controls Engineer to join our dynamic Project Management team. This role will be integral in ensuring our capital projects are executed safely, efficiently, on time, and within budget.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, implement, and maintain project controls systems for cost, schedule, and progress measurement.
  • Prepare and manage project budgets, forecasts, and variance analyses.
  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, and procurement teams to track project performance and report key metrics.
  • Establish baseline schedules using Primavera P6 and ensure alignment with project execution plans.
  • Prepare and present monthly progress reports, cost performance indices (CPI), and schedule performance indices (SPI).
  • Support risk management activities, including risk identification, quantification, and mitigation planning.
  • Ensure compliance with company project controls standards, procedures, and reporting requirements.
  • Participate in project reviews, audits, and lessons learned sessions.
Qualifications

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in project controls within the oil & gas or energy industry.
  • Proven experience with large capital projects ($50MM+).
Technical Skills
  • Proficiency in Primavera P6, EcoSys, SAP, and MS Excel (advanced).
  • Strong understanding of cost engineering, earned value management (EVM), and scheduling methodologies.
  • Familiarity with AACE or PMI standards and practices.
