Job summary

Energy Jobline CVL represents a private residential developer and is recruiting a Project Civil Engineer for its in‑house technical team near Reading. The role is hybrid and offers exposure from early land stages through to construction and adoption.

You will manage civil design for residential sites, coordinate external consultants, and oversee approvals (S104, S38, S278, S106), ensuring compliant, adoptable and commercially sound solutions.

Qualifications

• Degree (or equivalent) in Civil Engineering or a related discipline
• Experience delivering UK residential / housing infrastructure
• Familiar with adoptable standards and approval processes
• Confident managing multiple projects and consultant teams

Responsibilities

• Managing civil engineering design for residential sites (highways, drainage, levels & utilities)
• Coordinating external civil engineering consultants from concept to delivery
• Overseeing technical approvals including S104, S38, S278 and S106
• Supporting land appraisals, technical due diligence, and planning submissions
• Liaising with local authorities, water companies, and statutory undertakers
• Ensuring designs are technically compliant, adoptable, and commercially sound
• Providing technical support through construction and adoption phases

Project Civil Engineer

Near Reading | Hybrid Working

£50,000 – £60,000 + Car / Car Allowance + Pension + 10% Bonus

A well-established, privately owned residential developer is looking to appoint a Project Civil Engineer to join its in-house technical team. The role offers excellent exposure to the full development lifecycle, from early land stages through to construction and adoption.

This is an ideal opportunity for a civil engineer currently working in consultancy or housebuilding who is looking for a client-side role with real ownership of projects.

The Role

You will take responsibility for managing and coordinating all civil engineering aspects of residential developments, working closely with external consultants, local authorities, and internal planning, land, and construction teams.

Key responsibilities include:

About You
