Job summary

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. is seeking a Project Buyer for the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. The role involves end-to-end procurement for site projects with a FIFO rotation (14 days on/14 off, 12-hour days).

Reporting to the Project Manager, you will source materials, issue RFQs/RFPs, evaluate bids, and ensure timely, compliant purchasing aligned with project schedules and site operations.

Qualifications

  • Site-based buyer experience with operations teams to ensure prompt material ordering.
  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills.
  • Familiarity with mining equipment, materials and services.
  • Valid Canadian Driver’s Licence.

Responsibilities

  • Source and order materials, equipment, and services for specific site projects.
  • Issue RFQs and RFPS to prospective suppliers.
  • Work closely with project managers, mining engineers and maintenance teams to ensure correct and prompt ordering of materials.
  • Assist project managers with evaluating supplier bids based on cost, quality, lead time, and compliance.
  • Negotiate pricing and delivery schedules with suppliers.
  • Resolve material delivery issues, discrepancies, and non-conformances with suppliers.
  • Track and expedite orders to ensure on-time delivery to site.
  • Maintain accurate procurement data in ERP system.
  • Generate reports for the project team.
  • Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure traceability and documentation for audit purposes.

The Opportunity:

Barminco Mining Services Canada Ltd. has an exciting opportunity for a Project Buyer at the Red Chris Mine in northern British Columbia. Working a FIFO rotation of 14-shifts on and 14-shifts off (12 hour days).



Reporting to the Project Manager or designate, the Project Buyer is responsible for the end-to-end procurement of materials, equipment, and services required for specific mine site projects. This role ensures timely, cost-effective, and compliant purchasing aligned with project schedules and operational requirements. The Project Buyer works closely with project managers, mining engineering, maintenance, and suppliers to mitigate risks and support successful project delivery.



Position Responsibilities (including but not limited to)


  • Source and order materials, equipment, and services for specific site projects.

  • Issue RFQS and RFPS to the prospective suppliers

  • Work closely with project managers, mining engineers and maintenance team to ensure correct and prompt ordering of materials.

Position Requirements


  • The ideal candidate will have experience as a site-based buyer with the ability to work with operations teams to ensure the prompt ordering of materials

  • Strong interpersonal and negotiation skills

  • Familiarity with mining equipment, materials, and services

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively in a team environment

  • Able and willing to complete other duties as required such as assisting warehouse labourers with deliveries and inventory during a rush

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

  • A valid and full Canadian Drivers Licence



Work Conditions


  • Ability to do shift camp work on a rotational basis, typically the rotations are 2 weeks on site (minimum 12-hour days), followed by 2 weeks off, working statutory holidays as they fall within the rotation

  • While performing the duties of this position, the successful candidate will be required to communicate, sit, stand, walk, climb, reach, push/pull, manipulate objects and work in awkward positions

  • Duties may involve moving materials weighing up to 50 pounds

  • Manual dexterity and good eye-hand coordination are required

  • Noise level in the work environment is moderate to high
