Job summary

Canadian Mental Health Association Thames Valley Addiction and Mental Health Services is seeking a Program Support II for the RAAM Clinic in London, Ontario. The person will assist an interdisciplinary team, handle administrative duties, and support client care within a bio-psycho-social framework.

Responsibilities include reception, data entry in EMR, and meal/clinic logistics. PVSC required; bilingual English/French preferred; HOOPP eligibility offered with 70-hour biweekly schedule.

The Program Support – Rapid Access to Addiction Medicine Clinic (RAAM) will assist within the scope of defined duties an inter-disciplinary team of physicians, nurse practitioners, registered nurses, counsellors, and other staff in the provision of substance use and addiction related services to clients.

WHAT WE'RE OFFERING:
  • What you'll be making -Starting rate for this role is $22.50 per hour (Level 1 – Program Support II)
    1. Successful external applicants will start at Level 1, with grid progression based on seniority up to Level 8 ($29.08 per hour); for internal applicants, grid level placement will occur as per the Collective Agreement
  • When you'll work -70 hours biweekly; Monday – Friday 8:30am to 4:30pm
  • Your pension plan –Immediately eligible for optional enrolment in the Healthcare of Ontario Pension Plan (HOOPP)

Administrative Duties
  • Greet and direct clients to appropriate resources and / or services
  • Provide reception both in person and via phone as required
  • Handle correspondence, including: email, fax and mail as required
  • Assist with client referrals
  • Update, maintain and ensure accuracy of client information in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR)
  • Assist with analyzing data and relevant information to: compose reports, compile statistics, and prepare correspondence and agendas
  • Monitor inventory of medical supplies and materials and order as required
  • Other duties as assigned
Client Support Duties
  • Provide basic health and personal care for clients as required
  • Monitor clients receiving substitution therapies
  • Participate in the implementation of care/treatment plans as directed
  • Take patients' blood pressure, temperature and pulse as directed
  • Collect specimens for testing, e.g. urine drug testing
  • Train clients in the administration of Naloxone
  • Maintain inventory of supplies including cleaning and sterilization of equipment
  • Follow universal precautions while performing all duties
  • Follow security procedures at the beginning and end of clinics
  • Perform other procedures as directed by members of the team
What you’ll need to apply:
Police Vulnerable Sector Check Requirements

Successful candidates must have a Police Vulnerable Sector Check completed in the last six months. Interested applicants who reside in the City of London and are in need of a Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC) are encouraged to apply for one as soon as possible as PVSCs in the City of London are currently taking approximately 2 weeks to be processed and offers of employment cannot be made without receipt of a PVSC.

We require the following qualifications:
  • Graduate of a post-secondary administrative program or human services program or equivalent (primary proof of credentials will be required during the hiring process i.e. original degree/diploma or official transcript)
  • Current, satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check (PVSC)
  • Demonstrated ability to attend work regularly
We prefer the following qualifications:
  • Current Driver’s Licence and access to a vehicle with adequate insurance to carry out job duties
  • Training to administer Naloxone preferred
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification
  • CPI training
  • Medical office administration experience preferred
  • Capacity and comfort level dealing with street-involved individuals who may exhibit behaviours consistent with their distress, intoxication or other circumstances
  • Experience working with individuals with mental health/addiction needs
  • Experience with EMRs required including knowledge of medical terminology
  • Experience in crisis resolution
  • Previous experience in handling confidential or sensitive information
  • Knowledge of applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines governing health care provision
  • Working knowledge of chemical dependency, substance use and withdrawal
  • Working knowledge of the bio-psychosocial model of care and best practices for co-occurring disorders
  • Working knowledge of community resources
  • Knowledge of Harm Reduction principles
  • Knowledge of WHMIS, fire, health, and safety procedures
