The Temerty Faculty of Medicine’s Commercialization & Partnerships unit, positioned within the Office of the Vice Dean, Research & Health Science Education, serves a vast community of scholars and trainees. This newly established unit aims to advance the Faculty’s commercialization, entrepreneurship and partnerships initiatives. By offering transformative training programs, fostering strategic partnerships, implementing effective commercialization strategies, and nurturing an entrepreneurial culture, the unit seeks to amplify the impact of medical discoveries originating from the faculty.

The Program Manager, Lab2Market Health Hub will collaborate closely with the Director, Commercialization & Partnerships to lead the planning, development, and delivery of a range of entrepreneurship and commercialization programs and initiatives within the Lab2Market Health Hub. This role combines strategic leadership with hands-on implementation, driving activities that build and strengthen partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, and identifying strategies to generate new business, funding, and partnership opportunities. The Lab2Market Health Hub, an integral component of Canada’s national Lab2Market network, is housed within Temerty Medicine’s Commercialization & Partnerships unit. Its mission is to deliver experiential, practitioner-led training that equips students and researchers with the innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship skills, competencies, and mindset needed to transform health research discoveries into impactful, real-world solutions.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and managing overall plan, program/project design and strategy for the Lab2Market Health Hub, as well as a stakeholder management system; Developing key components of projects that support collaboration and partnership on behalf of the Lab2Market Health Hub
  • Developing and executing a suite of entrepreneurship and commercialization programs and initiatives for the Lab2Market Health Hub, including training programs, educational workshops, seminars, and related strategic activities
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance in the public, private and non-profit sectors and with internal stakeholders across the University's tri-campus, including various accelerators and incubators
  • Assessing and determining benchmarks and metrics; using data to make decisions and ensure continuous improvement to reach the Lab2Market Health Hub goals
  • Developing and implementing marketing and communication plans to promote programs, events, and strategic objectives that support the Lab2Market Health Hub objectives and goals
  • Coordinating funding application processes, including support of writing applications
  • Leading the development and consistent application of program policies, ensuring equitable and effective program delivery
  • Planning financial resources for the programs and projects within the Lab2Market Health Hub, including collaborating on cost estimates and budget planning; Analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision making

Essential Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
  • Minimum six (6) years’ relevant experience managing complex, significant projects or programs; experience in the creation, development, launch and execution of program/project strategies, working with stakeholders; setting up and managing communication platforms and strategies
  • Demonstrated experience in the creation, development, launch and execution of program/project strategies in the entrepreneurial, commercialization, and innovation space
  • Demonstrated experience with entrepreneurship program development, including experience facilitating delivery of programs, educational workshops, and seminars
  • Demonstrated experience building relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance in the commercialization/entrepreneurial space (i.e., other accelerators/incubators)
  • Demonstrated experience developing marketing and communications plans that promote programs
  • Proven experience delivering presentations to promote programming in the area of entrepreneurship and commercialization
  • Demonstrated experience with large scale proposal development and supporting proposal development
  • Demonstrated experience managing projects from end-to-end, including developing project schedules, communication plans, evaluation frameworks, and collecting feedback
  • Demonstrated experience developing and applying consistent program policies
  • Experience with financial resource planning, including collaborating on cost estimates and budget planning
  • Demonstrated experience analyzing financial trends and preparing analytical reports and forecasts for management decision-making
  • Experience collating and analyzing qualitative and quantitative data and information for reports and to provide briefing materials and recommendations to a range of audiences, including senior leadership
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and oral for the preparation of reports and making presentations
  • Good facilitation skills to lead groups to productive outcomes
  • Excellent organizational and project management skills
