Job Overview

This Project Manager maintains meaningful First Nations relationships while fulfilling the duty to consult, to achieve our client's vision. Undertaking consultation and engagement with Indigenous Nations on the company's program maintenance work.

What you will be doing:
  • Lead, execute and document the entire lifecycle of consultation as it relates to the company's program/operational work.
  • Fulfill Indigenous Relations' (IR) policies, principles, procedures and objectives in regards to program/operational work. This includes assisting in relationship building with First Nations and facilitating their participation in the work, where applicable.
  • Document all consultation activities and communications in the IR consultation tracking system.
  • Complete and track all IR deliverables, compose formal communications and document issues, concerns and interests heard through program consultation.
  • Work collaboratively and build relationships across key business groups, including Operational delivery teams, IR regional teams, and Environmental Field Services. In addition, liaise with Program/Work Program Managers, design/engineering and field teams on IR topics and issues.
  • Communicate/facilitate First Nations participation in archaeological, heritage, environmental and other fieldwork activities.
  • Respond to requests from internal company business groups for guidance and support when performing a variety of maintenance and sustaining activities affecting First Nations.
  • Maintain relationships with First Nations whose relationships with our clients are generally stable, mature, or collaborative in nature by using excellent skills in building and maintaining trust so that projects are implemented as planned.
What you need to have:
  • Bachelor's degree in Indigenous Studies, Communication, Engineering Business, Law, Public Administration or related discipline.
  • 2+ years in a related role as a project manager.
  • Experience/understanding of Indigenous relations across BC.
  • Advanced English skills for a professional environment, written and spoken.
  • Experienced & proficient with Excel.
  • Experience working with GIS systems an asset.
Term:

1-year initial contract, potential to extend based on performance and workload.

This role requires regular or occasional attendance at and as such will be subject to the company's Contractor Vaccination Policy. This policy requires all contractor resources to be fully vaccinated by January 10, 2022, or prior to the work assignment start date whichever date is later.
