• Providing leadership, supervision, and clinical guidance to staff delivering individual and family counselling, parent education and support, and attachment-informed behaviour management consultation and intervention.
• Providing annual employee performance appraisals and cooperate with staff to develop performance objectives and professional development plans.
• Participating as a member of the Management Team to develop long range and strategic plans, and collaborate, assess and resolve operational issues as they arise.
• Completing administrative duties, including the range of required incident, quality assurance and program report(s).

We are now accepting applications for a Program Director of Community Mental Health and Youth Services to be based out of our Kelowna office. Under the direction and supervision of the Director of Services the Program Director of the Community Mental Health and Youth Services provides clinical supervision to the Family Based Treatment Program across the Okanagan (North, Central, and South) and our Youth Services and Family & Youth Outreach Counselling Programs.

The Family-Based Treatment Program is a mental health outreach service designed to support children, youth, and their families in their home. The program works closely with Child and Youth Mental Health clinicians to strengthen family coping and capacity and assisting their child or youth to manage, reduce, or overcome the challenges and impacts associated with their mental health diagnosis.

The Youth Services and Family & Youth Outreach Counselling Programs provide a continuum of services for youth and families experiencing barriers impacting wellbeing. Youth Services supports independence for youth who are unhoused and disconnected from their families and other community supports. The Family and Youth Outreach Counselling Program supports youth and their caregivers in strengthening their relationships and reducing the risk of youth becoming unhoused.

Hours / Schedule

• 35 hours per week

• Primarily Monday to Friday, however hours may fluctuate to accommodate the program’s schedule and the needs of the agency
• This position will require weekly travel through the North, Central and South Okanagan.

Responsibilities

The Program Director of Community Outreach Programs responsibilities include, but not limited to:

• Providing supervision and support to program counsellors in relation to developing and maintaining client records and effective case management practices
• Providing leadership, supervision, and clinical guidance to staff delivering individual and family counselling, parent education and support, and attachment-informed behaviour management consultation and intervention
• Providing annual employee performance appraisals and cooperate with staff to develop performance objectives and professional development plans
• Participating as a member of the Management Team to develop long range and strategic plans, and collaborate, assess and resolve operational issues as they arise
• Completing administrative duties, including the range of required incident, quality assurance and program report(s)

Preferred Education and Experience

The qualifications for this position are:

• Master of Social Work or a master’s degree in a relevant discipline (MA in Counselling, MA Psychology, etc.)
• 4-years of clinical experience in mental health and/or family support services
• Supervisory experience with youth and family counselling and child and youth mental health

To be successful in your role, you'll also need:

• To be an innovative and supportive supervisor
• Experience with strengths-based, trauma-informed care an d youth and families experiencing risk
• Excellent communication and coaching skills
• Knowledge of and experience with conflict resolution and stress debriefing techniques.
• To function effectively both independently and collaboratively as part of a multi-disciplinary team
• Be skilled at appropriately applying the following treatment modalities to practice:
• CBT, DBT and other cognitive counselling approaches
• Collaborative Proactive Solutions
• Family Systems Counselling
• Attachment, Developmental, and trauma-informed care
• Suicide assessment, prevention and intervention

Wage / Benefits

$ 7,70 0.00 – 7,875.00 per month based on experience and education.

Upon successful completion of a trial period, this position is eligible for a full benefit package (including dental plan, vision coverage, life insurance, extended medical coverage, long-term disability plan, and RRSP or TFSA contributions); as well as accrued vacation and sick time at 5.8% - above BC Employment Standards!
