Job summary

BGC Okanagan in Vernon, BC is seeking a Program Area Leader to support our Recreation programs for children, youth and families. You will plan and deliver activities with the Activity Leaders, encouraging participation and ensuring safe, inclusive experiences.

This part-time role offers a positive team culture, ongoing paid professional development, and a schedule, Tuesday through Thursday 1pm–5pm. Pay is $19.82 per hour.

Qualifications

• Diploma or certificate and/or relevant experience with children/youth in recreation, education or social services.
• Course(s) totaling at least 20 hours covering child development, guidance, health and safety or nutrition (licensed programs).
• Minimum of 1 year of recent related experience.
• Class 5 Driver’s License; willingness to obtain Class 4.
• First Aid Certificate and Food Safe, or willingness to obtain.
• Criminal Record Check as part of Agency screening.
• Open to all applicants; union membership as applicable.

Responsibilities

• Plans and implements recreational, social, and educational activities for the program.
• Works with Activity Leaders to deliver the program and encourage participation.
• Oversees day-to-day operation, facilities and equipment, and ensures policy/licensing compliance.
• Makes recommendations on program development, policy, and evaluation.
• Promotes awareness and support by producing promotional materials and attending events.
• Liaises with community providers to coordinate referrals and represent the program externally.
• Maintains records and produces reports as required.
