Status: Part Time

Hours: Teaching is normally scheduled between 8:00 am and 10:00 pm, Monday – Friday

The Electrical, Transportation & Innovation department of the Mohawk College Marshall School of Skilled Trades and Apprenticeship requires a part-time professor to teach in the Auto Body department in any number of courses and program areas.

Under the direction of the Associate Dean, Professors in this department are responsible for providing academic leadership for developing an effective learning environment.

What you’ll be doing:

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Teaching theory and practical application components.
  • Creating a positive and innovative student-centered learning environment in both the classroom and laboratory settings.
  • Using a variety of teaching strategies most appropriate for the curriculum for both postsecondary and apprenticeship.
  • Using a variety of techniques to evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes.
  • Managing the educational environment to facilitate an optimal learning experience and student success.
  • Evaluating, revising and developing learning resources within the program.
  • Enhancing educational delivery and experiences through the use of technology to facilitate student learning.
  • Applying college values and philosophy to work activities and interaction with others.
  • Using the college’s online learning system to present curriculum, testing and online activities.

Other duties as assigned.

What you’ll bring to the role:
  • 310B Auto Body & Collision Damage Repairer Certificate of Qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years experience in the Auto Body trade.
  • A post-secondary diploma or degree in a related field – preferred not required.
  • Post-secondary teaching and/or field training experience is preferred.
  • Learner‑centred approach and to assist in the development and application of alternate delivery methods.
  • Demonstrated commitment and understanding of human rights, equity, diversity, inclusion, and accessibility.
  • The ability to communicate and work effectively with diverse students, employees, and communities.

The successful applicant must be familiar with the following:

  • Body, Frame & Structural Repair
  • Non-Structural Repair
  • Refinishing
  • Damage Analysis and Estimating
  • Suspension, Steering and Brake Systems
  • Practical experience and a broad general knowledge of the motive power trades
  • Certification and/or experience with electric and hybrid vehicle repair (asset, not required)
  • Occupational Health and Safety Act
