Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Medieval Philosophy

The Faculty of Philosophy at Université Laval invites applications for a regular Tenure-Track Assistant Professor position in Medieval Philosophy

Description of the position:

The candidate selected to fill this post will teach full-time in our undergraduate and graduate programs in the field mentioned above. They will be expected to contribute to scholarly research in Medieval Philosophy through their publications, as well as to supervise graduate student research in this area. The successful candidate will be expected to participate in the academic and administrative activities of the faculty, as welle as the Institut d'études anciennes et médiévales (IEAM).

* Please note, all teaching and administrative duties at Université Laval take place in French.

Selection Criteria

PhD in philosophy or equivalent at the time of hiring; solid knowledge of Latin; ability and interest in working with, and teaching, people from a variety of disciplinary backgrounds; ability to undertake autonomous and original research in the field, with a view towards international publications; teaching experience; relevant scholarly publications.

The ability to establish links between Medieval Philosophy and other periods in the History of Philosophy will be considered a strength. Knowledge of Ancient Greek and/or Arabic will also be considered a strength.
