Job summary

Atlantic Packaging is seeking a Production Supervisor for the Mississauga plant to lead a unionized team and drive safety, quality and efficiency in converting and corrugating operations.

You will manage rotating shifts (days, afternoons, nights), ensure compliance with OHS and GMP standards, coach staff, optimize KPI outcomes, and coordinate maintenance and scheduling.

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience.
  • Supervisory or operations leadership experience within the corrugated packaging sector; high-volume manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and systems.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills; ability to organize and prioritize tasks.
  • Able to work rotating shifts as per operational requirements.

Responsibilities

The Opportunity

Reporting to the Department Superintendent, the Production Supervisor is responsible for leading and developing a high-performance team of unionized workers to optimize safety, product quality and line efficiencies within the Mississauga Corrugated plant.

Weekly Rotating Shifts: Day - 6 am to 2 pm; Afternoon- 2 pm to 10 pm; Nights- 10 pm to 6 am

What You’ll Do

  • Leading and supervising a team of unionized workers to optimize safety, product quality and productivity in the Corrugated Operations
  • Ensure work is performed safely and in accordance with OHS standards; that workers are protected from any hazards and such hazards are identified and controlled; and workers use the prescribed safety equipment
  • Maintain and enforce quality standards including food safety (GMP) and good housekeeping protocols; support operations in customer and third-party audits
  • Develop plans to ensure annual KPI objectives are achieved for safety, product quality, efficiencies and cost; providing direction and support to continuous improvement initiatives
  • Coach and performance manage workers with emphasis on frequent communication, feedback and promoting a high level of teamwork and engagement
  • Plan the effective and efficient scheduling of labour, equipment, and material resources for Corrugated Operations
  • Provide expertise and direction in the determination of equipment, parts and materials needed and coordinating preventative maintenance needs
  • Foster strong relationships and communication with internal and externals departments and stakeholders
  • Coach and enforce specific safety rules and behaviours ensuring timely and accurate reporting of accidents / incidents and proactive prevention measures
  • Provide daily feedback to workers on performance and conduct performance reviews with direct reports
  • Facilitate crew meetings to ensure current safety, quality and production related issues are considered and resolved
  • Administration and application of the collective agreement and Company policies/procedures
  • Back-up for the position is the Department Superintendent or as designated by the Production Superintendent.
  • Other duties as assigned

What You Bring

  • Post-secondary education in a related discipline, or equivalent work experience
  • Supervisory or operations leadership experience within the Corrugated packaging sector is highly desired ; experience in a high-volume manufacturing environment is a prerequisite
  • Proficient with MS Office applications and systems
  • Strong communication, interpersonal and critical thinking skills are essentialAbility to organize and prioritize essential tasks to achieve results
  • Able to work rotating shifts as per operational requirements
