Production Supervisor

SUMMARY
Reporting to the General Manager, the Production Supervisor is responsible for the day-to- day tasks associated with coordinating all aspects of production, staffing, scheduling, and equipment maintenance and upkeep. The Production Supervisor ensures that all company objectives and environmental standards are met.
EXPECTED CONTRIBUTIONS
Supervisory
- Proactively promote a safe work environment and ensure that all employees are knowledgeable and diligent in carrying out their duties.
- Attend and actively participate in production and safety meetings.
- Assign work duties to production staff.
- Address employee issues in a fair and consistent manner.
Maintenance
- Perform preventative maintenance and repairs on all production equipment.
- Work with various types of equipment, such as pumps, valves, conveyers, and bearings.
- Safely and effectively utilize hand tools.
Production
- Ensure production volumes are met, downtime is limited and follow up on any problems that may occur.
- Review a detailed inventory position report to plan production priorities and schedules daily.
- Assist production, planning and shipping into the inventory management system.
- Provide updates to management on status of work orders and daily production.
- Provide back up to operations administrator by providing work orders, and labels to manufacturing as needed.
- Conduct spot inventory cycle counts.
- Assist with other duties as required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Supervisory
- Proven experience providing training and direction to staff, motivating and developing staff, including setting performance standards and monitoring performance.
- Effective coaching and team-building skills.
Technical
- Lumber manufacturing or wood preserving experience is desirable.
- Proven experience with troubleshooting and repairing equipment.
Other
- Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to think creatively and solve problems.
- Attention to detail combined with strong organizational skills.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Competent with Microsoft Office and MRP/ERP systems.
EMPLOYMENT STATUS
EDUCATION
- High school graduation
- Post-Secondary in wood products manufacturing is an asset
COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS
- The typical hiring range for this position is $66,000 - $70,000 annually. The base pay offered is based on geographical location and may vary depending on the applicant’s job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity. Similar positions located in other geographical locations may not necessarily receive the same salary range. The compensation information is an estimate and provided to meet with applicable provincial Pay Transparency legislation.
