Job summary

A leading shipbuilding company in Halifax is seeking a Production Scheduler to manage project timelines and coordinate between teams for naval ship repair projects. Ideal candidates should have a post-secondary degree and 2-5 years of relevant experience. This role offers a dynamic work environment and requires a full-time, in-office presence.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Create project schedule using contract documentation and estimating sheets.
  • Ensure schedule budgets are maintained and reflect project adjustments.
  • Collaborate to ensure activity breakdown and logic sequence are maintained.
  • Provide schedule support to Planning and Project Controls teams.
  • Maintain the Project Schedule with daily input from various teams.
  • Provide efficiency and forecasting reports to multiple teams.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Are you a master of timelines and a champion of coordination? As a Production Scheduler in Ship Repair, you'll be at the heart of project execution—crafting and maintaining schedules that keep everything moving smoothly from start to finish. You'll be the go-to communicator for project health, working hand-in-hand with Production Planners and the Project Controls team to track progress, flag potential delays, and drive proactive solutions.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Utilize contract documentation and estimating work/material sheets to create the project schedule.
  • Ensure schedule budgets are maintained to accurately match project contracts as the scope of work evolves to include cancellations, adjustments, and increases in scope of work.
  • Collaborate with the Scheduling Team Lead, Planning Team, Project Manager, and QC to ensure activity breakdown, logic sequence, and inspection points are accurately maintained in the project schedule.
  • Provide schedule specific support to the Planning and Project Controls teams.
  • Daily maintenance of the Project Schedule with input from Production, Planning, Project Controls and QC to ensure the current progress of the project is accurately represented.
  • Provide periodic efficiency, schedule health, and forecasting reports to the Production, Program, QC, Project Controls and Accounting teams.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Post‑secondary degree; preferably in technical, engineering, or related discipline.
  • Trade Certificate, Red Seal is considered an asset.
  • Lean/Six sigma White, Yellow, and Green Belts would be considered assets.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) designation considered an asset.
  • 2–5 years of planning & scheduling experience, preferably in a naval shipbuilding or repair environment.
  • Interpretation of work breakdowns for implementing into a project schedule.
  • Experience using Primavera P6, MS Excel, Aveva, or AutoCAD would be considered an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of naval repair methods considered an asset.

Due to the nature of work Irving Shipbuilding does, all successful applicants must meet requirements for the Canadian Controlled Goods Program (CGP), Canadian Government Security clearance, and U.S. International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR).

Please note this position requires a full-time, in-office presence.
