Job description
Overview

CGC Inc. is a leading marketer, manufacturer and distributor of gypsum wallboard products, interior finishing material and suspended acoustical ceilings. With locations around the world, CGC and USG have the resources, plants, products and people to build walls, ceilings and careers. CGC Inc. is currently recruiting for a Production Operator (Brake Press / CNC Operator) for MULTIPLE shifts at our ceilings plant, based in Oakville, Ontario. This is a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation. Under the guidance of the Specialty Foreman, the Production Operator conducts the daily operations of the Specialty Department.

Responsibilities
  • Performing duties such as packaging Specialty products, running CNC/Brake Presses, performing housekeeping duties, and other duties as required.
  • Operating equipment efficiently and ensuring the production of high-quality Specialty products.
  • Ensuring safety and housekeeping are the first requirements in all activities.
  • Knowledge and compliance with all safety rules, model programs, and procedures associated with the Specialty Production department.
  • Cooperating and working in a team environment while maintaining consistent attendance.
  • Exercising personal safety, as well as promoting and enforcing safety among crew members.
  • Developing and maintaining good employee morale and working relationships within the department and with other departments at the plant.
  • Assisting in the implementation of USG/CGC Model Programs, Safety Rules, VWIs/JSAs and Standard Operating Procedures, as required.
  • Carrying out special projects and assignments as directed by Management.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma required.
  • College diploma in sheet metal fabrication is considered an asset.
  • Prior work experience in sheet metal fabrication is considered an asset.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Hands-on experience operating, setting up and troubleshooting Brake Presses and CNC machines is considered an asset.
  • Able to work flexible hours and all shifts.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to work as a team.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrates ability to adapt to changing business conditions to support the needs of department.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Must be a people and results-oriented individual who incorporates and emphasizes safety and quality in all aspects of the daily work environment.
Additional Information
  • Hourly wage base pay: $29.22/hr
  • Shift Premiums: Afternoon - $1.75/hr & Night - $2.25/hr

Rate of pay may be adjusted based on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.

Work Schedules
  • Shift length: 8 hours
  • Night Shift: Sunday to Thursday, 11pm-7am
  • Rotating Shift: 2-week rotating shifts, Monday to Friday, and weekends as needed, 7am-3pm & 3pm-11pm
