Job Description

Modern Elevator Innovations (MEII) designs and manufactures custom elevator systems. They handle the full process from engineering and fabricating components like cabs and entrances, to coordinating with architects and contractors. Their parent company, ATTA Elevators, operate their installation branches to manage seamless installations of the manufactured units.

This vertically integrated tandem of MEII / ATTA strives to deliver high-quality, efficient, and tailored elevator solutions across North America.

THE POSITION

MEII / ATTA Elevators is seeking a qualified individual to join our team located at the Burlington production facility. This position will report directly to the Controller - Finance & Production and will have three supervisors reporting to them from across the production floor. The Production Manager’s primary responsibility will be to oversee the daily manufacturing operations, with a strong focus on schedule attainment, production capacity, labour optimization, training & development, scrap reduction, and lean manufacturing practices. Duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to the following :

  • Create and manage production schedules to meet deadlines and customer demand. This includes developing work schedules for teams and coordinating the timing of raw material deliveries.
  • Report production progress, downtime, and efficiency metrics to senior management.
  • Respond quickly to production delays, equipment breakdowns, or staffing shortages.
  • Identify bottlenecks and propose process improvements.
  • Organize and schedule the repair and routine maintenance of production equipment to ensure continuous operation.
  • Collect, analyze, and report key performance metrics (capacity, labor efficiency, scrap rates, OEE, etc.).
  • Conduct performance reviews and create development plans for team members.
  • Manage departmental budgets, monitor production costs, and implement strategies to increase productivity and reduce expenses.
  • Promote a culture of safety among employees.
  • Support training and skill development of workers.
  • Partner with Engineering, Supply Chain, and Quality teams to ensure successful ETO project execution.
  • Work with senior leadership to align production strategies with company objectives. Support Kaizen events with data collection, time studies, and sustainment.
  • Document standard work, instructions, and visual management tools.
THE QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor’s in Industrial / Manufacturing Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain Management.
  • 5 to 10 years of manufacturing experience in Industrial Machinery and Equipment, Automotive, Aerospace, Medical Devices, or similar.
  • The ability to take organizational goals and objectives and develop department projects and performance targets for their own team to implement, monitor and report on.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in implementing Continuous Improvement processes such as TPM, Lean Supply Chain principles and tools and/or Six Sigma.
  • Software capability including Microsoft Excel and Word. Knowledge and experience on use of MRP / ERP systems is a desirable skill.
  • Demonstrated experience conducting root cause analysis, 5S audits, and daily tier meetings.
  • Experience with project management and governance systems.
  • Strong influencing skills, ability to direct employees within a regimented business operating system / policy framework for employee development, appraisal, evaluation and discipline.
  • Great listening skills and motivator. Ability to teach / coach others and develop talents.
