Job description

We are seeking a Production Control & Logistics Coordinator to support production planning, inventory control, material flow, and logistics within a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This hands‑on position will play an important role in ensuring materials are available when needed, production orders are accurate and up to date, and finished goods are shipped on schedule.

Key Responsibilities

Production Control & Scheduling

• Create, release, update, and close production work orders and production labels.
• Support daily production scheduling and monitor progress against planned requirements.
• Reconcile completed work orders, including production quantities, scrap, and material usage.
• Track production output and identify potential delays, bottlenecks, or capacity constraints.
• Monitor customer forecasts, releases, and demand requirements.
• Work with Production Management to ensure customer requirements are clearly communicated to the shop floor.

Inventory Control

• Monitor and maintain accurate inventory levels for raw materials, WIP, and finished goods.
• Investigate inventory discrepancies and coordinate corrective actions.
• Monitor material consumption, scrap, and usage against production requirements.
• Maintain accurate inventory transactions within the ERP/MRP system.
• Support cycle counts and physical inventory activities.
• Review BOMs, routings, and material requirements to support production planning.

Material & Logistics Coordination

• Coordinate the movement of materials from receiving through production and finished goods shipment.
• Ensure required materials are available at production work centres when needed.
• Coordinate with material handling and warehouse personnel to maintain efficient material flow.
• Support receiving and shipping activities and verify required documentation.
• Track outbound shipments and assist in ensuring on‑time customer deliveries.
• Escalate material shortages, delays, and logistics issues to the appropriate departments.

Reporting & Documentation

• Prepare and maintain reports related to customer demand, production progress, inventory, material usage, and production performance.
• Enter and maintain accurate production and inventory data in ERP/MRP systems.
• Maintain documentation required for traceability, audits, and production records.
• Assist with developing and improving departmental SOPs and work instructions.
• Provide accurate information to management to support production and inventory decisions.

Cross-Functional Coordination

• Work closely with Production, Purchasing, Quality, Shipping, and Inventory teams to resolve operational issues.
• Communicate production requirements and customer priorities across departments.
• Assist with resolving workflow interruptions, equipment downtime, material shortages, and scheduling conflicts.
• Support Quality with process‑specific internal audits and documentation when required.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives focused on improving material flow, inventory accuracy, and production efficiency.

Qualifications & Requirements

• 2+ years of experience in Production Control, Production Planning, Logistics, Inventory Control, or a related manufacturing environment.
• Experience in metal, automotive, or advanced manufacturing is preferred.
• Experience creating, processing, and reconciling production work orders.
• Strong understanding of inventory control and material flow.
• Hands‑on experience with ERP/MRP systems such as JobBOSS, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills and experience working with production reports and large data sets.
• Understanding of BOMs, routings, production requirements, and capacity planning.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving skills.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to work effectively in a fast‑paced manufacturing/shop‑floor environment.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work collaboratively with production, purchasing, quality, and logistics teams.
• Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing or continuous improvement principles is an asset.
