Job summary

A leading technology manufacturing firm in British Columbia is seeking an individual to operate manual spray and automated PVA machines for conformal coating of PCB assemblies. Qualifications

  • Good computer literacy and effective written and verbal communication in business English.
  • Ability to use hand tools properly and safely.

POSITION DESCRIPTION:

Perform manual spray and operate PVA machines to apply conformal coating on electronic assemblies, ensuring quality, consistency, and compliance with workmanship standards. Responsibilities include masking, taping, potting, touch‑up, inspection, and safe handling of coating materials in a manufacturing environment. Maintain strong awareness of surroundings, safety, and quality requirements at all times.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include, but not limited to:
  • Operate manual spray and automated PVA machines to apply conformal coating to PCB assemblies per work instructions and standards.
  • Perform masking and taping (manual or hot melt) and execute potting and encapsulation processes as required.
  • Conduct visual and UV inspections, perform coating touch‑ups, and verify workmanship quality.
  • Safely handle, mix, and apply coating materials following MSDS and chemical handling procedures.
  • Load and cure coated assemblies using UV curing equipment.
  • Set up and operate basic manufacturing equipment and complete routine production tasks.
  • Read and follow assembly documentation, drawings, and job travelers.
  • Maintain cleanliness, organization, and preventive maintenance of workstations and coating equipment.
  • Communicate effectively with team members, leads, and engineers regarding process or quality concerns.
  • Adhere to all company safety, ESD, and environmental procedures; maintain awareness of surroundings to prevent hazards.
  • Accurately complete production documentation and other assigned tasks.
  • Other duties as required.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • High School diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Relevant experience in manual PCBA conformal coating, use of PVA coating machine, masking, safe chemical handling highly preferred.
  • Knowledge of coating equipment, materials, and IPC‑A‑610 workmanship standards an asset.
  • Good computer literacy (Microsoft Office Applications, Windows OS, machine‑specific software/programs). Ability to navigate computers across older/newer OS, ability to navigate programs to operate a machine.
  • Effective written and verbal communication in business English.
  • Ability to use hand tools properly and safely to perform manual and box‑level build assembly.
  • Ability to read, comprehend, and follow assembly documentation, standard operating procedures, visual aids, etc. and perform tasks up to standard.
  • Strong attention to detail, safety awareness, and ability to follow instructions.
Specific Physical Demands
  • Controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Work is performed in sitting, standing, reaching and stooped positions.
  • Repetitive hand motions.
  • Job duties require working with and around chemicals and the use of a respirator, and other applicable PPE will be required.
  • Manual spraying will require lifting and reaching spray gun weighing 1‑10 lbs.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination and mechanical aptitude.
  • Strong situational awareness of surroundings to ensure personal safety and prevent potential hazards in a manufacturing environment.
  • Color identification is a requirement of the role.
  • Ability to safety lift up to 40 lbs.

  • You need to be legally eligible to work in British Columbia, Canada, full‑time for any employer.
  • Offer of employment contingent on successful background check (Controlled Goods Program clearance).
  • This is a fixed‑term full‑time position, 6 months.
  • Shift: Day (Monday to Friday, 7AM‑3:30PM).
  • Wage: Anticipated pay range is $19.50 - $22 per hour, final offer will depend on factors including experience, education, etc.
