Job summary

A family-owned design and printing company in Ontario seeks a Production Artist to convert and translate customer artwork into a press-compatible format. The ideal candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in packaging graphics and strong knowledge of the Adobe Creative Suite. A deep understanding of printing methods is essential. Qualifications

  • Deep understanding of major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset) and CPG industry.

Production Artist

Founded in 1919 as Phototype and recently rebranded as the Olberding Brand Family, we are a family company focused on delivering the highest quality and client service in the graphics design, management and printing industry. We Design, Optimize and Protect Brands. Our clients are primarily consumer products companies and printers and we help them by delivering a broad range of services from brand strategy and packaging design, to adaptive design across various print and digital platforms, all the way to color management and the production of printing plates. With our world headquarters located in Cincinnati, we have over 450 employees throughout the United States and offices in Europe and Asia.

The Production Artist is responsible for converting and translating customer submitted artwork into a press compatible format. The Production Artist maintains an effective and efficient workflow from the point the artwork is scheduled to the proof stage.

Duties and Responsibilities Include:

  • Create production art, line extensions and prepping jobs for assembly based on client requirements (preflighting, typesetting, image placement, layout, spot color adaption, etc.)
  • Output production proofs depicting final layout for customer approval
  • Design all files according to the requirements of the press it will run on; including press marks, color correction, etc.
  • Make independent judgment in graphic assembly of working art files; analyzing needs and product requirements to create a final press-ready file
  • Maintain an effective comprehension of calibration, profiling and workflow procedures
  • Proofread all work including customer proofs and final files
Qualifications Include:
  • 2-3 years’ experience in packaging graphics, design and/or prepress
  • Strong Adobe Creative Suite knowledge (Illustrator, Photoshop, Acrobat)
  • Deep understanding of major printing methods (Flexo, Gravure, Offset) and CPG industry
  • Graphics production technology background or experience, a plus
