Overview
We are currently seeking a full-time permanent Product Manager, Quantitative Applications to join our Technology team.
As a Product Manager, Quantitative Applications, you will serve as the primary link between business stakeholders, including portfolio managers, quants, risk managers, researchers, and senior leaders, and the development team. You will manage product roadmaps, gather and analyze requirements, and lead the development of front-office applications that support every stage of the portfolio management workflow, from trading and structuring to hedging, rebalancing, and funding. Reporting directly to the Head of Quantitative Portfolio Management, your work will focus on delivering innovative ways to capture and visualize market insights using internal and external data, ensuring these tools integrate seamlessly with portfolio managers’ workflows to enhance decision-making and productivity.
Responsibilities
- Product Analysis, Design & Ownership : Establish a knowledge base of how the front office portfolio management application works, the intended purpose of each major feature and the use cases they fulfill and how it contributes to the overall success of the product and then to the company’s portfolio management business. Use your knowledge base to make design & UX decisions, guide our product’s future development from concepts to implementation, then to release.
- Understand your end-users well. Gather, document, and validate business requirements by engaging directly with portfolio managers, researchers, risk management, and even C-suite officers.
- Monitor system performance, usage analytics, and user feedback to reinforce your product knowledge base, identify opportunities, design ideas, and gaps.
- Own the product strategy and define success metrics to measure impact and drive continuous improvement.
- Stakeholder Management & Cross-Team Communications : Through effective communication, strengthen the partnership between business and engineering functions, and ensure alignment between various engineering teams throughout the product lifecycle.
- Share release plans, project objectives, progress updates, and system changes with clarity and transparency. Provide decisive leadership when needed, while fostering an inclusive environment that encourages feedback and open dialogue.
- Address and resolve issues proactively to minimize friction among team members during complex projects. Balance stakeholder expectations with team capacity and morale to ensure sustainable delivery.
- Development Leadership & Agile Practice : Lead the day-to-day development projects, conduct sprint planning, craft project objectives with stakeholder inputs. Ensures the alignment between high-level goals on the product and the day-to-day development effort.
- Partner with engineers and architects, provide clear and decisive product & design inputs, while lean on their technical knowledge to make decisions and ensure the quality of the product.
- Develop Epics, Features and Stories to guide the engineering teams’ efforts with structure.
- Requirements Include: Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Computer Science, or a related field. MBA or Master’s degree is considered an asset. Prior exposure to capital markets is an asset but not a prerequisite; strong product and technical experience are the key selection criteria. Minimum of five (5) years of experience in product management, design, or engineering within FinTech or technology-driven organizations, including at least one (1) year in a senior capacity making critical product decisions. Strong understanding of software development principles and lifecycles; prior software engineering experience is considered an asset. Knowledge of UI/UX principles and best practices. Experience with Agile frameworks (Scrum, Kanban) and tools such as Azure DevOps, Jira, Confluence, or Notion. Knowledge of data ingestion, transformation, and visualization frameworks (e.g., Kafka, PowerBI / Tableau, DataDog / Grafana, D3 / Plotly) is considered an asset. Programming knowledge in C#, Python, RestAPI, TypeScript, or modern front-end frameworks (Angular / React) is considered an asset. Familiarity with fixed income products and front-office portfolio management lifecycles is preferred.
