Qualifications

  • 3+ years’ experience in all aspects of engineering and design.

  • Mechatronics or Electrical experience would be an asset.

Product Engineer
Job Summary

Reporting to the Director, Engineering Heat the Product Engineer will develop and maintain innovative, competitive products with a strong focus on delivering excellence to meet customer needs. They will handle a variety of engineering assignments across multiple discplines and conduct independent studies completing analysis, interpreting results, and drawing conclusions, requiring broad scope familiarity with various fields of engineering.

While based at our London manufacturing facility, this role will also support engineering operations at head office and is highly independent with technical guidance being provided by the Director, Engineering Heat.

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain engineering drawings, solid models, and documentation in accordance with Dimplex standards and procedures, using SolidWorks.
  • Design products for manufacturability (DFM), considering cost, regulatory standards, timing, and materials
  • Manage item masters and bills of material within Dimplex’s internal systems
  • Lead product changes through the Product Change Notification system, updating drawings and communicating modifications to suppliers
  • Prepare, test, and evaluate samples and prototypes for regulatory compliance (UL/CSA/ETL), and complete quality assurance reports
  • Provide technical guidance and support for sourcing and supplier-related issues, including samples, tooling, project timing, design changes, and testing
  • Create and maintain project timelines (e.g., Gantt charts) and manage engineering tasks in collaboration with the Product Team
  • Communicate effectively with team members, suppliers, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met
  • Serve as a technical resource for the business and may provide guidance to Compliance Engineers or other Product Engineers
  • Ensure all engineering work is completed with discipline and in alignment with internal and external customer and supplier requirements
Qualifications and Education Requirements
  • University Degree or equivalent in Engineering
  • P. Eng. Certification (obtained or in progress)
  • 3+ years’ experience in all aspects of engineering and design
  • Proficient with MSOffice, SolidWorks, and MS Project
  • Experience working with electric power tools
  • Strong analytical, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication abilities
  • Customer-focused mindset and commitment to excellence
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team
  • Comfortable collaborating across all levels of the organization and cross-functionally
  • Embraces new ideas, continuous learning, and positive change
  • Proactive in identifying opportunities for product improvement
Preferred
  • Mechatronics or Electrical experience will be an asset
