Job Description

The Product Development Engineer works closely with the Product Development Manager, responsible for turning product concepts into tangible, manufacturable products. Throughout the development process involving concept discovery, prototyping, material selection, establishing key specs, manufacturing comparison, testing and analysis. This role requires working cross-functionally with marketing, and operation teams to build best-in-class automotive products that enhance the TuxMat brand.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with designers on design briefs, iterate based on functional testing
  • Navigate technical studies and comparisons, for materials and manufacturing selection
  • Continuously research materials, technologies, and processes to improve products
  • Understand customer needs, competitive landscape, and industry trends
  • DFM (Design for Manufacturing) and optimize for cost and scalability
  • Provide technical input to assist in launch activities: meeting specifications & timelines
Qualifications
  • 2+ years of experience in product development, engineering design, ideally in consumer products
  • Diploma or degree in Materials, Mechatronics, Manufacturing, Industrial, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent
  • Proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar)
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes (injection molding, thermoforming, cutting, assembly) and materials
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills, proficiency with Microsoft O365 (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Passion for cars, product design, and building tangible products
