Job description

Are you actively looking for a new opportunity? Or just checking the market? Well… you might just be in the right place!

Lightspeed is looking for a Product Designer II to join our Capital team. Lightspeed Capital connects qualified merchants with fast and convenient funding—letting them focus on growing their business, not haggling with banks. We’re looking for a designer who can help create elegant experiences that get more funds to more merchants in ways that are most useful to them.

In this role, you'll help define a vision through iterative design and delivery. The ideal candidate has a proven track record of transforming complex workflows into simple, clear customer journeys with user-friendly interfaces that seamlessly integrate with other workflows. You excel at identifying opportunities to deliver value and thrive in collaborative environments, working closely with engineers and product managers to create exceptional customer experiences.

What you’ll be doing:
  • Problem Solving: Own and lead full design cycles for features or a product area, comfortable reaching out for guidance when needed. Participate in design reviews and working sessions, helping the team develop effective and thoughtful solutions. Translate requirements and ideas into clear, usable product features. Contribute in design reviews and help refine solutions with the team. Proactively explores and integrates AI and emerging technologies to shape your approach.
  • Embedding Systems Thinking: Have UX expertise and understanding of design systems, UI design, and how micro-interactions can help users complete a task. Design holistic systems, flows and interfaces that are simple, elegant, and user-friendly. Understanding of how to use design systems to best ensure consistency across platforms and contribute to its improvement.
  • Driving User-Centricity: Use research and data insights to inform design decisions. Collaborate closely with product managers and engineers to align on user needs, ensuring designs balance usability with business goals.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional partners and contribute positively to team culture. Be open to feedback and eager to learn from peers and senior designers.
  • Curious, Experimental Mindset: Be excited shipping experiments quickly to get signals from customers, then using that feedback to make those experiences even better. Use qualitative data and quantitative interviews to inform design and product decisions.
What you need to bring:
  • At least 4 years of practical, in-house product, UX/UI design experience.
  • Experience designing fintech products in a fast-paced environment.
  • Clear communication skills. You can explain design decisions and collaborate effectively with teammates and stakeholders.
  • Solid visual design skills and attention to detail, with a drive to continuously refine craft.
  • A curiosity to learn and adopt new tools, including how AI can enhance the user experience and improve your design process.
  • Applied experience working across all digital and physical manifestations of what we design - from the responsive web to native applications to the next technological leap.
  • An acute level of self-awareness and deep empathy - for both the customer and your team’s goals.
  • An understanding and ability to consider product strategy and vision. You don’t just care about “how it looks,” or “what we should design,” but “why are we designing this at all?”
  • An arsenal of design tools such as Figma, Google Suite, JIRA, and other prototyping tools.
  • As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.

We know that people are more than what’s on their CV. If you’re unsure that you have the right profile for the role... hit the ‘Apply’ button and give it a try!

What’s in it for you?
  • Ability to do your job in a truly flexible environment
  • Genuine career opportunities in a company that’s creating new jobs everyday;
  • Work in a team big enough for growth but lean enough to make a real impact.

… and enjoy a range of benefits that’ll keep you happy, healthy and (not) hungry:

  • Lightspeed RSU program (we are all owners)
  • Unlimited paid time off policy
  • Health insurance
  • Health and wellness benefits
  • Possibility for transit fees to be covered
  • Paid leave assistance for new parents
