Job description

At Loblaw Digital, we know that our customers expect the best from us. Whether that means building the best, most innovative online shopping experience, or designing an app that will impact the lives of people across the country, we’re up for the challenge. From our office in Downtown Toronto, we’ve created leading eCommerce experiences in the online grocery shopping, beauty, pharmacy, and apparel spaces, and we’re only just getting started.

Why is this role important?
Product Designer, Digital Health

As a Product Designer for Digital Health, you will play a crucial role in transforming how Canadians access and manage their health. You will partner with Product Managers, Engineers, and fellow designers to create innovative solutions that enhance user experiences within our digital health offerings. Reporting into the Design Lead on a team of four designers, you’ll create solutions that improve healthcare accessibility and outcomes for millions of people.

You’ll be skilled in interaction design and design research validation, working in a collaborative environment with a fantastic culture. You will partner with team members across the organization to contribute to the overall success of Loblaw Digital and ensure meaningful impacts on our customers’ lives.

What you’ll do
  • Problem Discovery & Goal Setting: Collaborate with your team to ensure problems are well‑defined based on objective data. Facilitate discovery sessions and workshops to align around clearly defined problem statements and goals.
  • Interaction Design: Apply interaction design processes effectively to achieve optimal outcomes with your team. Focus on interplay between words, visuals, space, time, and behaviors of digital user interfaces—including journey maps, service blueprints, information architecture, user flows, and wireframes.
  • Art Direction & Visual Design: Design high‑fidelity interfaces that convey visual personality tone look‑and‑feel appropriate for your product.
  • Design Systems Thinking: Ensure design solutions utilize and further the team's design system by leveraging or iterating existing patterns. Identify undefined or inconsistent patterns and propose scalable solutions. Encourage shared naming conventions across design and development teams.
  • Design Research Validation & Iteration: Contribute to and lead user/market research activities. Synthesize results using mixed‑methods tools such as generative research, evaluative testing, experimentation, and performance analysis. Track post‑launch performance of your work and optimize based on data insights.
  • Inclusive Design: Ensure that digital products reflect the diversity of communities served by applying AODA requirements and inclusive design principles—even in areas not legally required—to improve products for everyone.
Does this sound like you?
  • The Team Champion: Build trust with partners and stakeholders by leading with curiosity and empathy while treating them as equals. Set and achieve shared outcomes while elevating the profile of UX practices within Loblaw Digital.
  • The Candid Collaborator: Provide clear feedback regularly while being comfortable navigating difficult situations optimistically. Care personally but challenge directly—communicating with candor and courage.
  • The Critical Thinker: Ask questions to clarify ambiguous problems while listening actively to uncover opportunities for improvement. Resilient to change yet invigorated by growth; constantly learning while challenging norms.
Your qualifications should include:
  • 2+ years of experience working in product design
A portfolio with recent case studies demonstrating:
  • Beautifully designed accessible digital experiences that you have shipped at scale.
  • Experience balancing stakeholder needs with technical constraints during problem framing and solutioning.
  • Ability to use design as a tool for identifying key questions/problems while exploring solutions—and defining/measuring success metrics.
  • Key performance indicators (KPIs) used to measure effectiveness of your work.
Highlighted Skills:
  • Experience in Healthcare or Pharmacy is considered an asset.
  • Experience designing mobile apps (iOS/Android) is a plus.
  • Strong Figma skills and execution are a must‑have
