Description

JOB PURPOSE

As the Product Compliance & Sustainability Specialist, you will be responsible for supporting and strengthening regulatory compliance and sustainability practices across our product lines and supply chain. Reporting to the Manager of Product Integrity & QA, you will oversee product compliance processes, ensure alignment with global regulatory standards (such as UL, CE, MED, REACH, PFAS), and support supplier engagement on environmental and labour practices.

This is a mid-level role with an opportunity to grow into increased responsibilities over time. You will work closely with internal product development, sourcing, and quality teams, as well as external suppliers and certification bodies.

WHAT WE OFFER

We estimate the salary range for this position to be between $60,000 - 80,000 annually. The final agreed upon salary may vary based on factors such as job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.

RESPONSIBILITY

Product & Market Compliance

  • Lead management of regulatory monitoring systems to support reporting of changing and emerging regulations applicable to products and packaging
  • Provide regulatory expertise to cross-functional partners in support of packaging and product claims, safety and labeling compliance
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure product and packaging meets the legal and regulatory requirements of existing and future markets
  • Build and maintain processes and documentation to ensure packaging compliance of labels and point-of-sale materials
  • Support onboarding and training initiatives to build compliance and sustainability awareness across functions
  • Support labor compliance efforts by coordinating supplier assessments, surveys, and data reporting aligned with customer and legal expectations

Chemicals Management

  • Leading chemical compliance within the organization and throughout our supply chains across all finished good categories, and all raw materials including prints and trims.
  • Defining and implementing comprehensive brand accountability as the subject matter expert. Developing comprehensive strategies and assessments to strengthen our chemical management program and tracking progress against these.
  • Managing a systematic, comprehensive seasonal product compliance review throughout the development cycle to identify risks within your scope and ensure they are addressed prior to commercialization.
  • Managing reported issues including root cause analysis and resolution.
  • Establishing best practice for processes & protocol within your scope. Reviewing functionality of systems & tools to support data integrity and efficacy.
  • Providing insight and training to internal and external partners where required in chemical compliance topics and protocols.

Market Compliance

  • Identifying guidelines to reduce brand risks associated with regulation in emerging product categories and regions we plan to be operating in within your scope. Manage and mitigate appropriately.

Sustainability

  • By working closely with Global Sourcing and Supply Chain team on quarterly business reviews and training/capacity building (at least annually).
  • By adhering to negotiated lead times and balanced annual capacities to expedite responsible purchasing practices as outlined in the Responsible Sourcing Policy.
  • Lead sustainability data tracking initiatives related to carbon footprint, raw material composition, and supply chain transparency.
  • Engage with suppliers to support responsible sourcing and continuous improvement in social and environmental practices.
  • Track and report on compliance and sustainability KPIs; contribute to annual ESG and product impact reporting.
Qualifications

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Textiles, Materials Engineering, or equivalent education.
  • 3-5 years’ experience in product compliance, quality assurance, or sustainability in a consumer goods or manufacturing environment.
  • Canadian Controlled Goods and ITARs eligibility.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Working knowledge of regulatory standards related to apparel, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including CE, UL, MED, REACH, and PFAS restrictions.
  • Strong mechanical ability (hands-on skill) combined a natural aptitude for problem solving and data analysis.
  • Knowledge of the setup and implementation of testing protocols, and the design, specification, and construction of test equipment.
  • Ability to prepare professional technical reports and presentations.
  • Knowledge of Canadian Controlled Goods and ITARs regulations.
  • Ability to travel 1-4 times per year or as required.
