Job summary

Nexans in Canada (Ontario) is seeking a Product Assortment & Demand Manager to govern the product portfolio and align demand with supply and operations. You will coordinate with Sales, Customer Service, Operations and Supply Chain, and drive backlog visibility and delivery date accuracy.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree and 5+ years in product management or supply chain roles, with ERP/SAP experience. Hybrid work with some travel is offered.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Sales Operations, Demand Planning, or Supply Chain coordination roles.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).

  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across commercial and operational teams.

Responsibilities

  • Own product master data governance within the ERP system and ensure data accuracy and governance compliance.
  • Lead quarterly and annual product assortment reviews aligning portfolio with customer needs and company goals.
  • Monitor backlog and delivery dates; coordinate with manufacturing and supply chain to manage ETAs.
  • Act as a cross-functional liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing and Supply Chain.
  • Develop dashboards and insights to improve backlog visibility and delivery performance.

As a Product Assortment & Demand Manager, you will report directly to the Leader, Commercial Excellence & Continuous Improvement of the Business Group PWR Grid&Connect North America.

GETTING TO KNOW THE POSITION

The Product Assortment & Demand Manager is responsible for governing the company’s product portfolio while ensuring alignment between customer demand, supply availability, and operational execution. The role combines product lifecycle management, master data governance, and demand coordination to support a consistent and transparent customer experience.

This position serves as a central liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Operations, and Supply Chain, managing backlog visibility, monitoring delivery commitments, and coordinating revised estimated delivery dates. Through structured product management and demand oversight, the role ensures portfolio clarity, ERP data integrity, and improved communication across the organization.

HOW YOU MAKE AN IMPACT
Product Master Data & Governance
  • Own product master data (MDM) within the ERP system, ensuring data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with governance standards.
  • Maintain ERP hygiene through routine audits and data quality reviews.
  • Partner with IT and Operations to resolve data discrepancies and improve master data processes.
Product Assortment & Lifecycle Management
  • Lead quarterly and annual product assortment reviews to align portfolio strategy with customer needs and company objectives.
  • Analyze product performance, complexity, and profitability to recommend additions, rationalization, or product discontinuations.
  • Manage product lifecycle governance including new product introductions, maintenance, and end-of-life transitions.
  • Ensure clear communication of product changes across Sales, Marketing, and Operations.
Demand & Backlog Management
  • Monitor and manage the customer order backlog to ensure visibility into demand and delivery commitments.
  • Track and review revised estimated delivery dates (ETAs) with manufacturing plants and supply chain teams.
  • Identify risks to customer deliveries and proactively communicate updates to Sales.
  • Escalate critical supply constraints and coordinate cross-functional resolution efforts.
  • Maintain alignment between customer expectations and operational realities.
Cross-Functional Demand Coordination
  • Act as a key liaison between Sales, Customer Service, Manufacturing, and Supply Chain teams.
  • Facilitate regular reviews of backlog status, order prioritization, and supply constraints.
  • Support alignment of demand signals with operational capacity and inventory availability.
  • Ensure consistent communication regarding order status, product availability, and supply changes.
Reporting, Insights & Continuous Improvement
  • Support development of dashboards and reporting tools for product performance, backlog trends, and delivery performance.
  • Identify opportunities to improve demand transparency, backlog visibility, and cross-functional coordination.
  • Support process improvements that enhance customer experience and internal efficiency.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE ?
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Marketing, or related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in Product Management, Sales Operations, Demand Planning, or Supply Chain coordination roles.
  • Experience working with ERP systems (SAP preferred).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to collaborate across commercial and operational teams.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, or B2B environments.
  • Experience working with backlog management, demand planning, or supply coordination.
  • Exposure to Lean or Continuous Improvement methodologies
