CBC Saskatchewan is looking for a producer to lead our top-rated radio current affairs morning radio program, The Morning Edition. This permanent full time role is based in Regina. Reporting to the executive producer of programming, you’ll work with a team to create exclusive and engaging programming that sets the news agenda for Regina and the rest of the province. We are looking for a strong, dynamic journalist who is innovative and adaptive, and who inspires others to experiment and take risks. You will be a strategic thinker who puts audience needs at the centre of your decision-making, ensuring our programming connects our audiences to the news they need to know, the stories that affect their lives and the issues that resonate in their communities. You also love a good chase. You are always looking for ways to get the very latest news and stories on the show. You are firmly rooted in the community and are always looking for ways to get the show and the team out into the world to connect directly with the people living here. As someone with a proven track record of targeting and growing audiences, you will be responsible for developing a strategy and vision for The Morning Edition to broaden its reach beyond radio audiences through digital and visual storytelling. You will also strive to broaden the range of perspectives, experiences and points of view reflected on our programming, especially those from people who have been traditionally underrepresented in the media. You will prioritize audience engagement and community connections, and look for new ways for The Morning Edition to reach people where they are. As a leader, you are naturally collaborative, skilled at navigating conflict and change, breaking down silos and developing a representative and inclusive culture. You will guide, coach and support the members of The Morning Edition team, collaborate with journalists across the newsroom, and work closely with our communications department, and you find joy in producing sweet-sounding radio.
Candidates will be asked to provide a strategic plan for the program that further connects the Morning Edition with a new audience. Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing. We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
