Job summary

Calgary Co-op in High River is seeking a Produce Utility Clerk to ensure friendly customer service while keeping a safe, efficient department. You will assist with culling, stocking, displays and price integrity.

Qualifications

  • Grade 9 or an acceptable combination of education and experience.
  • Related retail experience, including customer service.
  • Desirable: Receiving, counter set-up and product knowledge/experience.
  • Knowledge of ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Completion of Foodwise #14 within one year.

Responsibilities

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, requests and complaints.
  • Performs all aspects of the Produce Utility function including culling, stocking, displays and facing in an efficient and organized manner.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns; ensures price integrity including price changes.
  • Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to keep the department neat and organized.
  • Follows Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies.
  • Ensures proper care, use and maintenance of equipment; reports repairs.
  • Responsible for ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Responsible for receiving including reviewing invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.

Produce Utility Clerk

The Produce Utility Clerk is responsible to ensure customer service is provided through maintaining a safe and efficient operation while adhering to Company policies, procedures and standards. The Produce Clerk position reports directly to the Produce Supervisor/Produce Manager, and the main responsibilities include;

  • Provides customer service and maintains positive customer relations through the proper handling of customer questions, comments, request and complaints. Effectively works in a diverse team environment in a proficient and friendly manner.
  • Performs all aspects of the Produce Utility function including but not limited to culling, stocking, displays and facing in an efficient and organized manner. Ensures display presentation and stock levels are maintained.
  • Handles merchandise ensuring quality, minimizing damages and markdowns. Provides substitutions and ensures price integrity including price changes.
  • Performs general cleanup duties such as cleaning spills and display fixtures to ensure neat and organized department. Responsible for keeping the sales floor and back stock area clean from cardboard and debris, as well as disposal of garbage.
  • Performs duties following established Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety, and Environmental regulations and policies to ensure the health and safety of all staff and customers.
  • Ensures the proper care, use and maintenance of equipment and tools. Reports repair requirements to the Produce Supervisor, Produce or Duty Manager.
  • Responsible for all aspects of ordering merchandise and supplies.
  • Responsible for all aspects of receiving including reviewing verifying invoices, returns, transfers, claims and proper storage of products.
  • Assists in organizing and conducting inventory.
