Job summary

BGIS in Vancouver is seeking a Procurement Specialist to collaborate with Procurement Managers on RFXs, contract management reviews, and other supply chain initiatives.

You will engage stakeholders, develop sourcing strategies, identify cost saving opportunities, manage supplier relationships, and support PO administration in a busy environment.

Qualifications

  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience in procurement or strategic sourcing.
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing requirements and practices; current knowledge.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and develop supplier contracts.
  • Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills; proficient with MS Office and databases.
  • Ability to build relationships with stakeholders and maintain high ethics and accountability.

Responsibilities

  • Engages stakeholders to understand business requirements.
  • Develops and recommends strategic plans for Manager review and implements them.
  • Assist in the development and recommendation of sourcing strategies that maximize value and mitigate risks.
  • Support end-to-end competitive bid processes for strategic plans.
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships and contracts.
  • Review and approve vendor setup requests and conduct due diligence.

Summary

The Procurement Specialist is responsible for collaborating with Procurement Managers on a multitude of Procurement projects ranging from RFXs, contract management reviews and other supply chain management initiatives.

Key Duties & Responsibilities
Strategic Planning & Delivery
  • Engages stakeholders to understand business requirements
  • Develops and recommends strategic plans for Manager review
  • Implements strategic plans
Sourcing Strategy
  • Assist in the development and recommendation of sourcing strategies that maximize value and mitigate risks to the company and its clients.
  • Assist with the implementation of the sourcing strategy
Opportunities Assessment & Implementation
  • Identify cost improvement opportunities for assessment.
  • Achieves improvements in operational efficiencies and cost savings as a result
Competitive Bids
  • Support the execution of end-to-end competitive bid process for strategic plans
Supplier Relationship Management
  • Develops and maintains effective relationships with suppliers
Supplier Contractual Agreements
  • Develops, implements, amends and monitors supplier contractual agreements
Strategic Sourcing Best Practices & Industry Trends
  • Maintains in-depth and current category knowledge as well as knowledge of strategic sourcing best practices and industry trends
  • Provides category and strategic sourcing subject matter expertise
Vendor Qualification & Set-Up Process
  • Reviews and approves vendor set up requests and vendor information changes
  • Perform Anti-Bribery and Corruption due diligence
Purchase Order Administration
  • Reviews requests and process purchase orders
  • Prepare, send and file Purchase Orders on a daily basis meeting established quality standards.
  • Responsible for daily maintenance of existing Purchase Orders.
Support
  • Utilize standard templates for all strategic sourcing activity including but not limited to RFx templates, contract agreements, scopes of work, service level agreements, and letters of agreements
  • Ensure adherence to Company Policies, Processes and Work Instructions
  • Support Procurement team members as required

  • Other duties and special projects as assigned
Knowledge & Skills
  • 5-10 years of relevant work experience
  • Knowledge of strategic sourcing requirements and practices. Maintains current knowledge
  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • Ability to assist in the development and execution of supplier contract agreements
  • Advanced analytical and problem solving skills
  • Computer proficiency in MS Office applications. Ability to quickly learn proprietary databases
  • Ability to build and manage relationships with various stakeholders
  • Has working knowledge and experience in own discipline
  • Continues to build knowledge of the organization, processes and customers
  • Uses prescribed guidelines or policies to analyze and resolve problems
  • Receives a moderate level of guidance and direction
  • High degree of business ethics and accountability

Licenses and/or Professional Accreditation
  • Partial or full completion of Supply Chain Management Professional Designation from Purchasing Management Association of Canada, or equivalent, an asset

This is a regular, full-time position with a salary range of $63,397 - $79,246 per annum. The starting salary will be based on the successful candidate’s competencies, including but not limited to experience, education and performance related to this role.
