ANDRITZ Canada is looking for an experienced procurement specialist who can execute the sourcing, award and fulfillment (supply chain) management of fabrication of components, materials, parts and services for the Penstock & Gates segment of our business. Project scopes, as well as our expertise, is mainly focused on the design, manufacture and installation of heavy mechanical equipment related to the retaining structures of hydroelectric power plants, such as Gates, lifting equipment, guides, civil works as well as controls and instrumentation. Recognized as a leader in this field, we serve all Canadian & Private electric generation utilities.

Responsibilities
  • Source and negotiate pricing with suppliers;
  • Manage, issue and revise purchase orders (PO);
  • Notify suppliers of drawing revisions and their impacts on our PO’s;
  • Enforce and negotiate commercial terms & conditions and all contractual requirements;
  • Prepare offer evaluation comparative summaries and make recommendations;
  • Follow up on manufacturing or orders and acceleration requests from projects for deliveries;
  • Respond to or facilitate suppliers questions;
  • Communicate with Project team and engineers for project details (budgets, requisitions, specifications, delivery dates, etc.);
  • Follow procurement procedures and spending approval policy;
  • Work closely with accounts payables to reconcile invoices and provide supporting documentation;
  • Ensure suppliers have the appropriate documentation to proceed with work;
  • Ensure suppliers submit all required contractual and quality documentation;
  • Assist suppliers with validation of packing lists and their creation in LMS;
  • Negotiate vendor claims and change orders, as required;
  • Support the field site teams for urgent purchases;
  • Reporting as required by department or senior management;
  • Cross functional training as required;
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a similar purchasing role;
  • Experience with shop fabrication, steel purchase, machining, welding, etc.;
  • Ability to read shop/mechanical drawings, an asset;
  • Demonstrated / recognized experience in negotiating prices and terms and conditions;
  • Experience with SAP purchasing software, an asset;
  • Experience with purchase of materials, parts (motors‑pump‑bearings‑seals‑hardware…) and services in the hydro industry, an asset;
  • Ability to search web for new suppliers or products;
  • Ability to be autonomous and sometimes have to work with a minimum of information;
  • Intermediate to Advanced level of Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel;
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and work under pressure;
  • Ability to deal with changes in order of priorities;
  • Excellent communication skills;
  • Demonstrated positive relationships with internal/external customers;
  • Knowledge of market trends and purchasing best practices;
  • Employs fair, ethical and transparent procurement practices;
  • Proficiency in English and French (Written-Spoken).
