Overview

Calling all Procurement Professionals! My Burnaby based client is seeking a Procurement Manager to join their team. This is a newly created role. This position will report directly to the President. The client is within the wholesale building materials industry and has been established for 60 plus years. As the Procurement Manager you will lead a team of two individuals and be the go-to person for a variety of other employees as the knowledge expert. This is an opportunity for someone who can wear multiple hats, think strategically, inspire and mentor other team members, operate in a fast-paced environment with a critical and analytical business mindset.

Responsibilities
  • Direct and oversee the Company’s purchasing functions including the supervision of all procurement activities, processes, and procedures
  • Analyze price proposals, financial reports, and other data and information to determine selling prices
  • Analyze and review trade policies, and other trade-related information to determine impact on import / export initiatives
  • Establish and implement purchasing standards, controls, policies, and procedures
  • Implement best practices in purchasing and supplier management
  • Develop and maintain a vendor base to create and sustain a competitive advantage, utilizing global market exploitation

  • Establish and maintain measurable performance metrics
  • Maintain and review requisitions and records of items purchased, costs, delivery, product, performance, and inventories
  • Work closely with various departments to drive product design, development, marketing, and launch processes

  • 7 plus years experience in materials / purchasing or supply chain management
  • Progressive experience in materials / purchasing or supply chain management and proven leadership abilities
  • Previous experience in a similar industry highly advantageous
