Job summary

Framatome North America is seeking an experienced procurement professional to drive supplier qualification, sourcing strategy, and materials governance for advanced nuclear components. You will partner with design engineers to translate complex drawings into purchasable specifications and lead supplier assessments to ensure quality and compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a science or technical field or equivalent work experience.
• Minimum of 8 years of technical procurement and/or supply chain experience.
• Advanced knowledge to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Familiarity with Canada Nuclear industry QA programs and codes (e.g. N299).
• Experience with procurement software or systems (e.g. Microsoft Project, ERP).

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with design engineers to define technical specifications and requirements for materials, components and manufacturability.
• Interpret BOMs and technical documents to align with procurement needs and guide internal teams on material selection and processes.
• Lead the evaluation and qualification of new suppliers, including on-site assessments of capabilities and quality systems.
• Resolve technical issues with suppliers during development and manufacturing to meet specifications.
• Coordinate and execute strategic sourcing plans for critical components, including make-or-buy analyses.
• Ensure procurement activities comply with policies, regulations, and ethical sourcing.
• Identify suppliers and manufacturing partners to support long-term manufacturing goals.
• Assess and mitigate supply chain risks for new products, including single-source dependencies and IP concerns.

What You’ll Do Day-To-Day

• Works with design engineers during the product development and design phases to define technical specifications and requirements for materials, components, and manufacturability.
• Reviews and interprets engineering drawings, Bill of Materials (BOMs) and other technical documents to align with procurement needs, providing technical guidance to internal teams on material selection, manufacturing processes and supplier capabilities.
• Leads the technical evaluation and qualification of new suppliers, including on-site assessments of production capability, quality systems, and risk profile.
• Resolves technical issues with suppliers during development and manufacturing, ensuring their processes can consistently meet our technical and quality specifications of the components.
• Coordinates and executes strategic sourcing plans for all critical components, including make-or-buy analyses for complex or custom-fabricated components.
• Ensures all procurement activities comply with company policies, industry regulations, and ethical sourcing practices.
• Conducts research to identify suppliers and manufacturing partners to develop supplier panels that support the company's long-term vision for manufacturing.
• Assesses and mitigates supply chain risks associated with a new product, including single-source dependencies, intellectual property concerns, and geopolitical instability.

What You'll Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in a science or technical field. Equivalent work experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
• Minimum of 8 years of technical procurement and/or supply chain experience.
• Advanced knowledge to interpret complex engineering drawings, specifications and BOMs.
• Must be familiar to relevant quality control standards and nuclear industry regulations.
• Familiarity with Canada Nuclear industry QA programs and codes. (i.e. N299).
• Ability to effectively manage team priorities and maintain strong supplier relationships.
• Experience working with procurement software or systems (e.g., Microsoft Project, Enterprise Resource Planning).
• Excellent communication skills to work effectively with all levels of staff and management, vendors and customers.
• Good problem identification and problem resolution skills.
• Excellent report development and presentation skills.
• Experience with material machining, forming, welding, and GD&T is a plus.
