Job summary

Job description

TRS is working with a global leader in the resource sector, recognized for delivering sustainable value through responsible operations and innovative projects. Their Canadian portfolio includes large‑scale developments and sustaining capital initiatives that prioritize safety, environmental stewardship, and community engagement. These projects offer exciting opportunities to work on complex contracting and procurement strategies within a dynamic and collaborative environment.

Work Location: Vancouver only.

Employment Type: Independent Contractor.

Contract Duration: 1 year term with possible extension.

Hourly Rate: Commensurate with experience.

Key Responsibilities
  • Administer Stage‑Gate commercial and procurement requirements for the project.
  • Develop and implement procurement and commercial strategies tailored to project needs.
  • Lead pre‑award and post‑award activities, including:
  • Preparing and issuing tender documentation.
  • Managing bid clarifications, evaluating proposals, negotiating complex terms, and drafting award recommendations.
  • Issuing contract documents and expediting key deliverables.
  • Managing contract changes, negotiating amendments, and handling claims.
  • Reviewing invoices and coordinating payments in line with contractual terms.
  • Build and maintain strong supplier relationships to ensure clarity of expectations and reliable delivery.
  • Coordinate business readiness activities with Commercial, Project, and Operations teams.
  • Identify opportunities to add value, optimize costs, and maintain procurement timelines aligned with schedule and budget commitments.
  • Experience in materials management is considered an asset.
Qualifications & Skills
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Supply Chain Management, or Business Administration.
  • Extensive experience in sourcing, procurement, negotiations, contracting, category management, and supplier/stakeholder engagement.
  • Proven experience in capital project environments.
  • Strong understanding of project execution and contract models (unit rate, lump sum, cost‑reimbursable, target price; direct hire, prime contractor, integrated owner teams; competitive bid vs. sole source).
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), SAP, Ariba, and commercial systems such as Aconex and Contruent.
  • Ability to execute Stage‑Gate requirements and manage complex commercial processes.
  • Skilled in negotiation, analytical thinking, communication, and structured problem‑solving.
  • Collaborative mindset with the ability to build strong cross‑disciplinary relationships.
  • Adaptability, self‑awareness, and commitment to delivering outcomes aligned with project goals and values.
