Hatch is seeking a dynamic Process Engineering Trainee, Downstream new graduate, with an interest in Metals. Working with the Metals, Downstream sector, you will support local and international projects working from our Mississauga Head Office.

As the successful candidate, you will:
  • Problem solving skills pertaining to project work in the Downstream sector (including process modeling and technologies) as well as simulation projects.
  • Work in a multi-disciplinary engineering team environment, with focus on assisting the process team
  • Assist with development of design criteria, mass and energy balances
  • Assist with Interpretation of simulation data, and field data as well as development of test work programs
  • Assist with preliminary equipment sizing, materials selection, process facility layout, hazard studies, and cost estimation
  • Opportunity to contribute to Hatch Digital and Technology projects.
  • Management of work within the scope, schedule, and budget provided by the process engineer.
You bring to the role:
  • New graduate with a degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Controls / Automation, Engineering Physics, Materials, Mineral Processing or Chemical Engineering from an accredited university.
  • Interest in extractive metallurgy, mining and metals.
  • Strong academic record.
  • Ability to effectively utilize written and oral communication skills to describe, depict and explain their work to other team members.
  • Must have proven skills with MS Excel, Word, and Power Point.
  • Experience with a programming language such as Python, MATLAB, C++ or Java is beneficial.
