Job summary

Veolia in Oakville is seeking an EI&C Engineer to join the Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls team. You will create process control strategies for water technologies, develop control documentation, support programming questions, assist with network design, and help during commissioning as projects advance.

The role may expand to electrical, instrumentation, and/or programming in the future. Expect collaboration with project teams and remote work options, with up to 30% travel to USA & Canada.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in electrical, mechanical, chemical or process engineering.
• 4+ years of control systems experience with Rockwell and/or Siemens PLC, HMI, DCS/SCADA.
• Valid passport and driver’s license.
• Automation testing experience (simulation and/or field): I/O modules, PID controllers, VFD configuration, and Network communications: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU.
• Willingness to travel up to 30% in USA & Canada.

Responsibilities

• Read and process engineering documents, including P&IDs, GA's, process design guidelines, Electrical Schematics, I/O Lists, instrument and valve lists, Network Architecture, return of experience, and engineering best practices guides.
• Interpret, comment, and follow contract and customer specifications.
• Design the complete detailed control logic for plant operation (Control Philosophy, Control Logic & Sequence Charts) with operator and equipment safety in mind.
• Manage budget, scope, and schedule and proactively report risks and opportunities to project teams.

Position overview:

As part of the Electrical, Instrumentation & Controls (EI&C) Engineering team, you will work collaboratively with a cross-functional engineering team executing custom project designs, meeting customer expectations, quality, schedule, budget, and goals, and ensuring project risks are mitigated.

The individual chosen for this role will be oriented toward Process Control Engineering, creating process control strategies for a wide range of water technologies, including developing control documentation, answering questions throughout programming, supporting network design, and assisting through commissioning as projects move through execution. In the future, there will be the possibility of expanding the role to include electrical, instrumentation, and/or programming.

Duties & Responsibilities:

• Collaborate in cross-functional project team discussions and client meetings


• Read and process engineering documents, including P&IDs, GAs, process design. guidelines, Electrical Schematics, I/O Lists, instrument and valve lists, Network Architecture, return of experience, and engineering best practices guides


• Interpret, comment, and follow contract and customer specifications

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

• Understanding of low-voltage power distribution electrical design


• Technical knowledge in industrial control systems


• Understanding of hydraulics and fundamentals of fluid mechanics


• Teamwork spirit and good interpersonal relations oriented


• Strong oral and written communication skills; provide reports and support internal and external customers


• Demonstrated ability to work independently and remotely with project teams

Education & Experience:

• Bachelor's degree in electrical, Mechanical, Chemical or Process Engineering


• At least four (4) years of experience with control systems of Rockwell Schneider and/or Siemens PLC, HMI, DCS and/or SCADA design and programming


• Valid passport and driver's license


• Automation testing experience (simulation and/or field environment): I/O modules, PID controllers, VFD configuration, and Network communications: EtherNet/IP, Modbus TCP, Modbus RTU


• Availability to travel up to 30% per year (USA & Canada). For customer meetings, training, and equipment startup support

Compensation:

The compensation range is tied to the market for similarly benchmarked roles. The range is not an absolute, but a guide, and offers will be based on the individual candidate’s knowledge, skills, experience, and market conditions, as well as internal peer equity. Depending upon all the preceding considerations for the final selected individual candidate, the offer may be lower or higher than the stated range: $83,000-$102,000 CAD.
