Job description

The Process Controls Engineer is part of the Potash Process Engineering team and supports the Mosaic Potash Esterhazy surface operations with developing, optimizing, and maintaining process control solutions. The Process Controls Engineer will work alongside process engineers, automation coordinators / specialists, and site instrumentation personnel.

What you’ll do:
  • Support the identification of process control opportunities by analyzing operating data and obtaining feedback from process operators.
  • Develop and review process control specifications and control narratives for in-plant improvements and capital projects.
  • Utilize data analytics tools to analyze and tune control loops.
  • Provide sustaining support for implemented automation solutions.
  • Demonstrate the value of implemented solutions through key performance indicators (KPIs).
What you’ll need:
  • B.Sc./B.Eng. in Chemical, Electrical, Mechanical, Industrial Systems engineering or related field.
  • Registered as an Engineer-in-Training or P.Eng. with APEGS, or able to become registered with APEGS.
  • Knowledge of process control, process engineering, and data analytics.
Bonus points if you have the following:
  • Experience working in an industrial environment, ideally including some mineral processing or mining experience.
  • Familiarity with OSI Soft PI data historian including Process book, PI Vision and Asset Framework.
  • Experience designing or tuning industrial process control loops.
  • Knowledge of common programming languages (i.e. Python) is an asset.

  • Strong verbal, written, listening and presentation communication skills.
  • Ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others, and gains understanding.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Solid interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a collaborative team across the organization.
