Job description
About the Role

An extraordinary opportunity to lead a renowned Catholic boys’ school at a historic moment of growth and transformation. St. Michael’s College School seeks a dynamic Catholic principal, a visible, faith-filled leader who upholds our Basilian and Catholic traditions while championing renewal across a changing campus, community, and educational landscape. At this pivotal juncture, you’ll unite a passionate faculty, inspire a driven student body, and partner with a diverse, engaged parent and alumni community to shape St. Michael’s College School’s evolving future.

Who You Are

You model authentic Catholic values in your leadership, serving with humility, fostering trust, and inspiring hope. You are strategic, resilient, collaborative, and present as you demonstrate your vocational praxis as an educator by being:

  • Visible in the community, highly engaged in school life, approachable, and attuned to the needs of all stakeholders.
  • Courageous and resilient, leading change and making difficult calls with integrity.
  • Innovative and student-centered, balancing tradition with strategic vision for academic, athletic and co-curricular excellence.
  • Operationally astute, skilled in resource and relationship management.
  • A champion of inclusion and belonging, with a track record of students and staff thriving in a diverse school community and committed to ensuring that every boy feels challenged and supported.
Why St. Michael’s and Why Now?

Since 1852, St. Michael’s has cultivated young men of integrity, courage, and service. Core to our 2025-2028 Strategic Direction, students are challenged to ‘Be The Good’ through academic and athletic excellence and grow in Faith and Character through Service. Today, we are at an exciting crossroads as we are launching a campus master plan, including a major facility expansion. Your leadership will define the school's next chapter, balancing competitive independent-school aspirations with our founding mission of educating young men in Goodness, Discipline and Knowledge for a life of leadership and service in faithfulness to Jesus Christ.

What You’ll Do
  • Model and uphold Catholic and Basilian values, serving as a chief steward of faith and service ethos within the community, in collaboration with the school President and the Basilian Fathers.
  • Continue to advance St. Michael’s academic and co-curricular reputation, championing innovation, inclusion, rigour across curriculum, and co-curricular programming.
  • Lead strategic planning and resource allocation, manage facility and programme expansion.
  • Mentor and inspire leadership, ensure succession planning, and support staff growth.
  • Champion student safety, ethical technology integration and digital excellence.
  • Communicate openly and inclusively, ensuring transparency and trust.
  • Consistently apply sound judgment, integrity, and discretion in all matters.
  • Be a visible, authentic presence at school events, in classrooms, and with all stakeholders, including students, staff, parents, alumni, and partners.
Qualifications
  • Principal certification (Ontario or equivalent), with a Master’s degree.
  • 10+ years of progressive educational leadership; experience as a high-impact district leader and/or secondary principal preferred.
  • Demonstrated mission-centered leadership in Catholic schools or comparable communities.
  • Proven ability to lead school-wide improvement, innovation, and team development in complex settings.
  • Exceptional communicator, relationship-builder, and role model.
  • Strong record of effective resource planning, and operational oversight.
