Job summary

  • Apply and support change management methodologies across projects.
  • Analyze project data to provide insights for governance and decision-making.
  • Develop clear reports and recommendations for technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide guidance to project teams on controls and performance improvements.
  • Support quality monitoring and assurance processes within PC&A.
  • Foster trust, collaboration, safety, and performance across project teams.

The Challenge Ahead

As the Principal Project Controls & Analysis (PC&A) – Performance, you will play a key role in supporting the successful delivery of BHP’s Potash project portfolio. Based in Saskatoon, you will be part of the Jansen Project Controls & Analysis team, helping to drive project performance, enable effective decision-making, and contribute to the successful execution of major capital projects.
This is an opportunity for an experienced project professional who thrives in a collaborative environment and is passionate about improving project outcomes through data-driven insights, performance management, continuous improvement, and stakeholder engagement. You will work across diverse project functions, helping teams navigate complexity while fostering a culture aligned with BHP’s Charter Values.

Key Responsibilities
  • Apply a strong understanding of business context, project delivery, and BHP’s operating model to improve decision-making, productivity, and project performance.
  • Lead and support project performance initiatives that generate value and contribute to successful project and program outcomes.
  • Apply, evaluate, and support change management methodologies, tools, and processes across projects.
  • Analyze project data and performance information to provide meaningful insights that support project management, governance, and decision-making.
  • Develop and present clear, well-structured reports and recommendations for both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Provide specialist guidance to project teams in resolving project controls challenges while promoting continuous improvement practices.
  • Support quality monitoring activities and contribute to PC&A functional assurance processes that drive project improvements.
  • Foster a culture of trust, collaboration, safety, and performance across the project team.
What You'll Bring to the Role

You are an experienced project controls, project performance, construction, or major projects professional who can confidently influence stakeholders and drive business outcomes through strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
To succeed in this role, you will bring:

  • Extensive experience supporting construction, infrastructure, industrial, or major capital projects.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills.
  • The ability to build trusted relationships across multidisciplinary project teams and influence outcomes through collaboration.
  • Experience within industries such as mining, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, forestry, utilities, transportation, or oil and gas.
  • A track record of working in complex project environments and contributing to successful project delivery.
  • An undergraduate degree in a relevant discipline such as Construction Management, Business, Finance, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Professional certifications or qualifications related to project controls, cost engineering, project management, or performance management are considered an asset.

Work Location

This position is based in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, Canada and supports the Jansen Potash Project portfolio. Working hours are 40 hours per week. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.
BHP offers domestic relocation assistance to support the successful incumbent in transitioning, if required. Benefits offered as part of the relocation program include (but are not limited to) new home purchase assistance, temporary accommodations, home finding trip and a resettlement allowance.
