Job description
Overview

Who we are

Samsara (NYSE: IOT) is the pioneer of the Connected Operations Cloud, a platform that enables organizations that depend on physical operations to harness Internet of Things (IoT) data to develop actionable insights and improve their operations. We help improve safety, efficiency and sustainability of physical operations that power the global economy, across industries including agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing.

Working at Samsara means helping define the future of physical operations and being part of a team shaping a wide range of product solutions. As a recently public company, you’ll have autonomy and support to make an impact as we build for the long term.

About the role

The Routing team at Samsara develops products to support drivers and dispatchers in orchestrating large fleets of light and heavy vehicles. This includes route formulation and optimization, live execution and dispatch, driver navigation and task automation, and analytics for continuous operational improvement. The role involves leveraging AI to extract features and insights from the physical world, offering coaching and assistance to drivers and dispatchers, and automating manual tasks.

As a member of the Product team, you’ll be responsible for building, launching, and driving end-to-end success of products and businesses that delight customers and advance Samsara’s vision. You’ll learn about customers’ operations, identify meaningful problems to solve, and develop a product vision that maximizes impact. With an entrepreneurial spirit and collaborative approach, you’ll help accelerate growth of our vehicle routing business.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in Canada.

You should apply if:

  • You want to impact the industries that run our world: Your efforts will have real-world impact—helping to keep the lights on, get food into grocery stores, reduce emissions, and ensure workers return home safely.
  • You are the architect of your own career: If you put in the work, this role can be a stepping stone. We support rapid career development and opportunities to experiment and master your craft in a hyper-growth environment.
  • You’re energized by our opportunity: Our vision to digitize large sectors of the global economy requires your focus and best efforts to bring creative ideas for customers.
  • You want to be with the best: At Samsara, we win together, celebrate together and support each other. You will be surrounded by a high-calibre team encouraging your best.
In this role, you will
  • Own the strategy & long-term roadmap for one or more new products and businesses, including the monetization strategy. Define the most important problems to solve for customers, and work backwards from winning.
  • Drive the execution of that strategy, delivering solutions that delight customers and contribute significant business value. Prioritize and communicate across the team, and run feedback loops to iteratively improve the solutions you own.
  • Partner with customer-facing teams to close strategic accounts, resolve escalations, and maintain relationships with top customers.
  • Champion, role model, and embed Samsara’s cultural principles (Focus on Customer Success, Build for the Long Term, Adopt a Growth Mindset, Be Inclusive, Win as a Team) as we scale globally and across new offices.
Minimum requirements for the role
  • 7-10+ years in a product management role.
  • Proven track-record of success, delivering products that delight customers, achieving measurable commercial outcomes.
  • Deep technical understanding, curiosity and drive, and ability to grasp technical concepts and establish credibility with engineers.
  • Strong analytical skills and ability to make data-driven conclusions and set quantifiable goals for the team to drive towards.
  • Bias-to-action and a proven track-record of delivering outstanding results for customers & the business on tight timelines. Hands-on approach, writing detailed product specs and engaging with customers via sales calls.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Comfortable presenting to customers, internal audiences, executives, etc., and writing clear strategy documents.
  • Track record of thriving in selective, high-performance environments, whether at schools, elite companies, or startups backed by top investors.
An ideal candidate also has
  • Experience leading mobile and SaaS products with refined, consumerized user experiences and complex enterprise workflows.
  • Experience developing services that automate and orchestrate real-world physical experiences.
  • Experience with transportation, logistics, supply chain, and operations businesses.
  • History building and managing relationships with enterprise customers and partners.
  • Commercial orientation, including experience owning a revenue-generating product and accountability for a P&L.
  • Bachelor’s and/or Master’s degrees in technical or business disciplines.
