About the Role

Grade Level (for internal use): 11

The Team: As a market leader in the provision of illiquid portfolio pricing valuation services, our Private Market Valuation professionals assist clients in the post‑trade valuation of alternative investments, specifically for debt and equity positions that have no active market quotations.

Since 2014, the department has grown among the fastest‑growing areas within S&P Global. Our analyst teams in London, Dallas, Singapore and Noida serve over 600 institutional investors covering start‑up, growth, mature and distressed spectra worldwide.

Responsibilities & Impact

Principle, Private Market Valuation will deliver a range of valuation services specifically to the alternative investment community including private equity, private credit, real estate, infrastructure, hedge funds, banks, institutional investors and fund administrators, in connection with post‑trade valuations for their positions.

Principle will use valuation techniques and technology‑enabled solutions to fulfil client commitments. They will periodically liaise with valuation committees on adopted methodology, with auditors on regulatory requests and internal developers on new technology to streamline workload.

Principle's duties include:

  • Performing valuations on a wide range of illiquid investments across industries and geographies using accepted approaches and theory.
  • Presenting analyses and conclusions, including written reports, and handling valuation queries from clients.
  • Contributing to the design and enhancement of financial models used to perform valuations.
  • Working with management to build and maintain client relationships.
  • Using AI tools to gather and clean financial, market, and operational data from structured and unstructured sources, improving efficiency and accuracy.
  • Incorporating machine learning to identify patterns in historical valuation data, improve forecast accuracy, and support scenario analysis for complex or illiquid investments.
  • Leveraging Natural Language Processing to extract key insights from investment memos, pitch books, earnings calls, and regulatory filings to support valuation assumptions.
Compensation/Benefits (US Applicants Only)

Anticipated base salary range: $115,000 to $135,000. Base salary may vary by location.

Eligible for annual incentive bonus plan.

Eligible to receive additional S&P Global benefits.

What We’re Looking For
Basic Qualifications
  • Qualified accountant or CFA charterholder (or in process of obtaining qualification).
  • Solid experience constructing and reviewing valuation models and other financial models (DCF, comparable company/bond, intangible asset models).
  • Experience managing delivery of valuations and responding to price challenges.
  • Knowledge of MS Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Good knowledge of several industry sectors (e.g., Biotechnology & Pharmaceuticals, Food & Drug Retailing, Healthcare Providers & Services, Software & IT Services).
  • Experience building and maintaining client relationships.
  • Experience prioritizing tasks to deliver valuations.
  • Ability to coordinate with internal teams across functions.
