The Jansen project in Saskatchewan, Canada is set to become one of the largest potash mines in the world and is located approximately 140 kilometers east of Saskatoon. BHP’s CAD$14 billion (US$10.5 billion) investment in the Jansen project will deliver a potash mine in Saskatchewan designed to maximize sustainability. As the largest investment in Saskatchewan’s history, Jansen is expected to generate approximately 5,500 workforce opportunities during construction and 900 long‑term roles.
Jansen's construction will take place over several years with first production planned for mid-2027. Once fully ramped up, Jansen is expected to have an initial production capacity of approximately 8.5 million tonnes per annum (Mtpa), with the potential to produce 16 to 17 Mtpa in future stages. This position will be based in Saskatoon. The associated work schedule will be 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working (flexible, shared workstations and a combination of office and work from home) is standard for BHP.

BHP is seeking a high‑performing and technically grounded Principal Operational Readiness professional to lead and deliver readiness activities for the Jansen Project in Saskatchewan—one of the most significant potash developments globally. This role is not about oversight from the sidelines; it’s about being embedded in the work, actively closing gaps, and ensuring a safe, efficient, and fully integrated transition from project delivery into operations.
As a Process Engineer with a strong foundation in scheduling, budgeting, risk management, and change control, you will play a critical role in driving operational readiness outcomes—not as part of a PMO, but as a key delivery leader. You will work across disciplines to resolve facility handover challenges, ensure systems and people are ready, and embed sustainable practices that support long‑term operational excellence.
