Lycopodium is seeking a Lead Designer to join the Vancouver, BC Drafting & Design team. The role reports to the Chief Designer and focuses on producing high quality 3D designs and general arrangement drawings while supervising a multi-discipline design group.

The candidate will manage design tasks, budgets, and schedules, mentor staff, and ensure compliance with Australian and international standards. Travel on an ad-hoc basis may be required.

Qualificações

• 15+ years of experience in a similar drafting/design role.
• Proven ability to produce high quality 3D designs and general arrangement drawings.

Lycopodium is currently recruiting for a Lead Designer to join our growing Drafting & Design team in Vancouver, BC.

Reporting to the Chief Designer the Lead Designer will producing high quality, cost effective, detail 3D designs and general arrangement drawings.The designer will work under the supervision of the Principal Designer, Lead Discipline Design Engineer or the Project Lead Engineer.

The tasks you'll perform

• Assist with the development of man-hour budgets and design schedules for Study /EPCM estimates.
• Facilitate design reviews through the development stages of the project design.
• Demonstrate a sound understanding of fabrication and construction techniques in the materials handling industry.
• Review and interpret vendor certified drawings and design data.
• Manage subordinates’ review of vendor certified documentation and the dissemination of vendor information to discipline engineers / drafting resources for interface checking.
• Management of and responsibility for multi-discipline design and drafting resources assigned to allocated tasks to achieve agreed deliverable dates and manhour budgets.
• Responsible for resolving disputes in their given discipline.
• Follow and implement all relevant Company standards and procedures and ensure design drawings comply with all relevant Australian and International Standards.
• Compile project reporting requirements in accordance with Company and Client standards to a high level of accuracy and professionalism.
• Proactively support other team members as required to ensure Project deliverables are met.
• Register and file all relevant project documentation in accordance to the Company approved procedures.
• Contribute to engineers in trainings professional development by providing consistent mentoring and identify avenues of development.
• Monitor the progress and performance of the project design team and give input and provide feedback and support where necessary.
• Develop and contribute to the delivery of improvement initiatives which support business priorities for continuous improvement.
• Suggest methods to improve operational efficiency.
• Ensure a high level of communication is attained within the Engineering - Design team.
• Provide leadership, guidance and direction to the Engineering - Design team as required.
• Travel on an ad-hoc basis to suit the needs of the business and its operations.

The expertise you'll bring

• Degree or Diploma with a focus on Design and Drafting
• 15+ years’ experience in a similar role with relevant industry experience.

The expected salary range for this role is $165,000 to $180,000.This range is based on the role’s job family andlevel and reflects a good faith estimate for the role at the time of posting.Your final offer will depend on factorssuch as market conditions, internal equity and candidateexperience,skills,andqualifications relevant to the role.We believe in fair,competitivepay that reflects the valueyoubring to the team.
