Job summary

Airbus in Mirabel, QC is seeking a Primary Flight Control Integration Specialist to join the Aircraft Control team. You will drive integration and detailed design of the A220 primary flight control system, defining interfaces and validating designs in collaboration with European counterparts.

The role requires strong knowledge of flight control systems, MBSE and Matlab/Simulink, with travel to Europe/USA expected.

Qualifications

  • University degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-160 and DO-178.
  • Familiar with Part FAR 25 / CS 525 certification processes.
  • Experience with the A220 flight control system, primary or secondary (asset).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in primary FBW flight control system integration on the A220 aircraft.
  • Define and agree the FBW system interface with other aircraft systems.
  • Conduct technical investigations, analyze and develop solutions.
  • Participate in system architecture and components definition.
  • Perform trade studies to optimize the design solution.

We are actively working on the feasibility study for the A220 new development which is an exciting milestone for the A220 Program. In this context we are looking for the right leader to embark on this journey.

The A220 commercial aircraft Programme is looking for a Primary Flight Control Integration Specialist (f/m) to join our Aircraft Control team based in Mirabel (Quebec, Canada), where you will work in collaboration with the European Flight Control development teams based in France and Germany.

You will be part of the Flight Control development team responsible for developing the A220 Primary and Secondary Flight Control System.

The team organization is established to promote cross-collaboration autonomously, supporting each other and learning collectively.

Your role as Primary Flight Control Integration Specialist will be to contribute to the integration and detailed design of the A220 primary flight control system. This includes definition of the requirements and interfaces and the associated validation and verification activities. These activities are carried out in collaboration with our European counterparts within the Airbus Group to leverage lessons learned from other Airbus platforms.

Your challenges:

  • Participate in primary FBW flight control system integration on the A220 aircraft,
  • Define and agree the FBW system interface with the other aircraft systems,
  • Conduct technical investigations, analyze and develop simple solutions,
  • Participate to system architecture and system components definition,
  • Perform trade studies to optimize the design solution,
  • Evaluate and approve designs from internal and external suppliers design through participation in the supplier's validation and verification processes,
  • Coordinate with various Integrated Product Teams/Suppliers, work with all departments for design, validation and verification, testing and certification, support to certification authorities.

Your boarding pass:

As our ideal candidate,

  • You are proactive and have an interest in the aerospace industry and systems integration.
  • University degree in Mechanical, Aerospace Engineering or equivalent from a recognized University.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in the aerospace industry.
  • Good knowledge of the specification, design, integration, test and certification of flight control systems and/or its components.
  • Experience in at least one complete development cycle from preliminary design to entry into service (an asset).
  • Experience in control systems development processes (based on ARP4754), including requirement decomposition from aircraft down to component level.
  • Knowledge of RTCA DO-160 and DO-178.
  • Familiar with Part FAR 25 / CS 525 certification processes.
  • Experience with the A220 flight control system, primary or secondary (considered as an asset).
  • Good organizational & planning skills.
  • Experience in simulation with Matlab software and Simulink.
  • Knowledge of model based development engineering (MBSE) (considered as an asset).
  • Experience of development process from preliminary design to entry into service (considered as an asset).
  • Strong communication skills in French and English (written and spoken).
  • Team player who is also able to work individually and deliver quality results, even in challenging environments.

Due to the sector of activity (aerospace), frequent contacts with Airbus entities worldwide, and interactions with suppliers and clients also located across the globe, proficiency in English is required for this position.

This role may involve some travels for business (in Europe and USA).
