Job summary

Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network is seeking an experienced Primary Care Registered Nurse (bilingual French and English) to join our team. This permanent/1.0 FTE role provides comprehensive nursing care within a primary care network and involves collaborating with family physicians and other health professionals.

The RN will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care, maintain EMR documentation, and support patients across ages with complex health needs.

Qualifications

  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing and current licensure with the College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare providers.
  • French language proficiency is required for this role.
  • Valid vehicle license may be required in some cases.
  • Experience in primary care setting is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Alberta privacy laws and compliance requirements.
  • Ability to make professional autonomous decisions as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive nursing services in a family practice setting.
  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care for patients of all ages.
  • Collaborate with family physicians and other health professionals in a multidisciplinary environment.

The Edmonton Southside Primary Care Network was the first PCN in Alberta. Over the past 17 years, the ESPCN has grown to become the largest PCN in Edmonton and consists of a team of health care professionals who are passionate about creating healthier communities. We are currently seeking an experienced Primary Care Registered Nurse to join our team!

Position Overview:

We currently have an opportunity for a permanent and temporary 1.0 FTE Primary Care Registered Nurse. French Language skills are required for this role. The Primary Care Nurse will provide comprehensive nursing services and care to patients within the Primary Care Network. The Primary Care Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care plans to patients of all ages. The Primary Care Nurse will be an integrated team member working to their full scope of practice, including performing restricted activities as outlined in the Health Professional Act within the primary care setting.

The Primary Care Nurse will work with the family physicians in the community, other health professionals and local and regional programming in a multidisciplinary environment to ensure a high quality of evidence-based health care to the practice population. The Primary Care Nurse will report to a Primary Care Manager.

  • To work collaboratively in a patient centred, integrated team-based practice within a primary care setting.
  • To participate in culturally appropriate care of individual patients, practice populations and associated communities.
  • To provide comprehensive nursing services and care to patients in the family practice setting.
  • The nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate care to patients of all ages and work with patients with complex health care needs.
  • To make professional, competent and autonomous decisions with patients as a member of the multidisciplinary team.
  • To act as a nursing resource to other multidisciplinary team members, healthcare institutions and community agencies or programs.
  • To ensure accurate, objective and timely clinical documentation in the appropriate medical record.
  • Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing
  • Current licensure with College & Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta licensure
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare provider
  • French Language
  • Vehicle/license – when appropriate

  • Understand the Alberta privacy laws and act according to those laws.
