Job summary

Interior Health in Cranbrook is seeking a term-specific part-time Primary Care Registered Nurse to join our autonomous team. The role supports a patient-centered care model across primary care, urgent care, and community settings, with day and evening shifts from 08:30 to 20:00 and 08:30 to 19:00.

You will work in an interprofessional team with physicians, nurse practitioners, and other health professionals, delivering high-quality care while advancing health promotion and disease prevention.

Qualifications

  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR/BLS certification required.
  • Current BC Driver's License.
  • RN certification in certain primary care clinics may be required.

Responsibilities

  • Provide client and family centered care in primary care, urgent and community settings.
  • Deliver care interventions and teaching based on client needs and best practices.
  • Promote health, disease prevention, and wellness in diverse communities.
  • Apply trauma-informed, culturally safe care and partner with Indigenous communities.

Cranbrook Urgent & Primary Care Centre has an exciting opportunity for a term specific part-time Primary Care Registered Nurse to join our team at Interior Health. We are looking for a confident, self‑directed professional who thrives in an autonomous role and is comfortable working independently while delivering high‑quality patient‑centered care. The end date of this position is August 21, 2027, or return of incumbent.

This position operates day and evenings, with shifts scheduled from 08:30 to 20:00 & 08:30 to 19:00.

How will you make an impact?

The Primary Care Registered Nurse works in an interprofessional collaborative team-based care environment with physicians, nurse practitioners, allied health, other health care professionals, and community partners to provide comprehensive and coordinated nursing care in IH and non-IH primary care, virtual, community, outreach, and/or client home settings.

Interior Health Primary Care encompasses a wide range of primary care services depending on the assigned practice area. These primary care practice areas may include, but are not limited to, primary care networks, longitudinal primary care, urgent and primary care episodic/longitudinal care, sexual health, women and children's health, maternity and perinatal care, mental health and substance use, and rural and remote care.

What will you work on?

The Primary Care Nurse delivers client and family centered care services through health promotion and prevention activities, care interventions, and teaching based on the client’s needs, urgency of request and best practices. The primary care nurse ensures clients, families, caregivers, and communities are provided with ease of access to timely, person-centered, holistic, continuous and culturally safe quality health services. Responds to changing health care needs to achieve optimal health focusing on health promotion, disease prevention, living well with complex chronic conditions, and end‑of‑life care.

The Primary Care Nurse provides client and family‑centered care through a trauma‑informed approach, evidence‑informed practice, and honoring Indigenous knowledge, wisdom and diversity. Establishes a dignifying, purposeful and trusting relationship with clients, promoting self‑determination and independence. Encourages knowledge exchange in day‑to‑day activities, and empowers clients to engage and connect within their communities. Applies a health equity, social justice, and social determinates of health lens to all key responsibilities. Ensures clients and their family members are supported in navigating the health care system.

Qualfications
Education, Training and Experience:
  • Graduation from an approved School of Nursing with current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
  • Current CPR- Basic Life Support required.
  • Current valid BC Driver's License.
  • In certain primary care clinics and practice areas British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives RN certified practice may be required. (RN First Call, Remote Nursing, Sexually Transmitted Infections, and/or Contraceptive Management)
