Job description

We have an exciting opportunity for a Newly Qualified B5 Staff Nurse to join our Primary Care team at HMP Highpoint, a category C Prison located in the village of Stradishall in Suffolk.

Highpoint is split into 2 sites, the North Building has 390 male inmates and the South Building has 950 inmates. Both sites have designated Healthcare Departments which you will be based in. Car driver required.

As a newly qualified professional, Practice Plus Group will support you through a comprehensive 12-month preceptorship program. This support includes regular mentoring, clinical supervision, and ongoing professional development to help you build confidence and competence in your role.

Hours:

  • Monday - Sunday service
  • 37.5 hours per week.
  • 07.45am - 18:15pm
  • Every other weekend and bank holidays also included as part of rota.
  • 4 week rolling rota

This position is full time, you'll receive a starting salary of £34,428 per annum FTE - depending on experience.

Main duties of the job

As a Primary Care Nurse your responsibilities will vary. You will

  • Work within a multi-disciplinary team to deliver a nurse led service and prevent hospital admissions.
  • Undertake medication rounds, dispense controlled medication, attend emergency response situations, assess patients, and undertake reception screening
  • Use your skills and knowledge to deliver nurse led clinics to your patient group whilst being supported by a multi-disciplinary team
  • Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them.
  • Deliver non-judgemental care that makes a real difference
  • Inspire excellence by forging strong links with our partners and stakeholders and providing a service that people can trust, feel safe within, and feel proud of.
  • Promote best practice, clinical supervision, evidence based care and continuous quality improvement
  • Share knowledge, skills and expertise to ensure safe care, support team members
