Job summary

Battlefield Equipment Rentals in Goose Bay, NL is seeking a Preventative Maintenance Technician Level 1. This full-time role involves hands-on maintenance, inspections, and safety-focused service of our rental fleet.

You’ll perform oil/filter changes, assist other techs, and ensure documentation is accurate. Forklift experience and CAT knowledge are a plus, with tools required for the job and a path for growth within the Toromont family.

Qualifications

• Mechanical knowledge and experience with preventive maintenance tasks including oil changes, filters, brakes, lines, etc.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills in a hands-on role.
• Ability to work well within a team and juggle priorities with minimal supervision.
• Capable of working independently with strong time management and organization.
• Able to perform heavy lifting regularly up to 50 lbs.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word & Excel); experience with Systematics is a plus.
• Strong commitment to safety and adherence to health and safety policies.
• Excellent customer service and communication skills.
• Experience operating forklifts is desirable.
• Technical understanding of CAT equipment considered an asset.
• Flexibility to support on-call schedules and adapt to business demands.
• Ownership of personal tools is required.

Responsibilities

• Perform cleaning, washing and routine maintenance of construction equipment.
• Conduct quality assurance inspections on equipment.
• Test and operate equipment and assess damages.
• Carry out preventative maintenance including servicing and oil/filter changes.
• Complete required documentation and data entry.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of the work area, shop and branch.
• Load and unload customer rental equipment when needed.
• Maintain a safe working environment and follow safety policies.
• Assist other technicians as needed.
• Support on-call staffing as required.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and teamwork.

As a key member of the Service team, the Preventative Maintenance Technician Level 1 plays a vital role in keeping our rental fleet and customer equipment operating safely, reliably, and effectively.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Complete cleaning, washing and routine maintenance of construction equipment;
• Complete quality assurance inspections on equipment;
• Testing and operation of construction equipment, including, but not limited to, assessment of damages;
• Perform preventative maintenance on construction equipment, including, but not limited to, maintaining and servicing rental equipment, oil and filter changes;

• Load and unload customer rental equipment when required;
• Maintain a safe working environment;
• Assisting other technicians as needed;
• Follow all Health and Safety policies, while maintaining s safe work environment;

What We're Looking For

• Mechanical Experience: Knowledge of basic mechanical principles and experience doing preventative maintenance tasks including oil changes, filter changes, breaks, lines etc.
