Job description

Career opportunities are presented in the language received.

Riverside Health Care (Riverside) is a fully accredited multi-site, multi-faceted health care system providing service to the Rainy River District and is the third largest provider in spectacular Northwestern Ontario. The Rainy River District is a remarkable place to call home and encompasses diverse communities across the North West. It is a region defined by resilience, connection and a deep commitment to caring for one another. Riverside has sites across the western portion of the District and serves a catchment area of more than 22,000 residents across 4.7 million acres in Fort Frances, Emo, and Rainy River. A health-care hub that spans the district, Riverside is an integral piece of a growing health landscape in their communities, providing inclusive and accessible service to all residents and visitors.

The President & Chief Executive Officer (CEO) joins Riverside Health Care at a pivotal moment of opportunity and transformation. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the CEO will provide visionary leadership to a multi-site healthcare organization serving communities across the Rainy River District and play a central role in shaping the future of healthcare delivery in Northwestern Ontario. As Riverside continues to advance its strategic priorities, strengthen regional partnerships, advocate for capital investment, and navigate an evolving healthcare landscape, the CEO will unite the organization around a shared vision while ensuring exceptional care for patients, residents, clients, and families. This is an opportunity to lead an organization with deep community roots and a committed workforce while positioning Riverside for long-term sustainability and success. Leading during a period of increasing service demands, workforce pressures, financial constraints, and system transformation, the CEO will foster greater alignment across Riverside’s sites, services, and teams while strengthening a culture of collaboration and shared purpose. As the organization’s primary ambassador, they will build trusted relationships with First Nations communities, Ontario Health, the Ministry of Health, municipal leaders, physicians, staff, volunteers, donors, and regional partners, ensuring Riverside is well positioned to influence the future of healthcare across the region. By championing a "One Riverside" culture and advancing strategic partnerships, the CEO will help secure the resources, investments, and relationships needed to support high-quality care for years to come.

The ideal candidate is an authentic, collaborative, and values-driven executive who inspires confidence through their leadership, integrity, and sound judgement. An accomplished health system leader, they bring experience leading complex organizations through change while balancing operational excellence with a clear strategic vision. They are a visible and approachable leader who builds trust through engagement, transparency, and genuine relationships, recognizing that lasting success is achieved by bringing people together around a common purpose. Equally comfortable working with Boards, physicians, staff, government, Indigenous communities, and external partners, they possess the political acuity and communication skills to influence, collaborate, and advocate effectively on behalf of Riverside. The successful candidate will bring demonstrated experience building high-performing teams, fostering organizational culture, and creating environments where people feel empowered, supported, and accountable. They will possess strong financial stewardship, a systems perspective, and the ability to navigate competing priorities while maintaining focus on long-term organizational sustainability. Above all, they will embrace the unique opportunities and complexities of rural healthcare and be energized by the opportunity to unite Riverside’s people, strengthen regional partnerships, and lead an organization that is deeply committed to improving the health and well-being of the communities it serves.
