Job summary

L3Harris is seeking a Manufacturing Technician for CNC optics manufacturing in Toronto, ON, on the afternoon shift. You will generate, polish and turn precision optical components using CNC optics and diamond turning machines, ensuring parts meet stringent specifications.

The role requires reading intricate optical and mechanical drawings, performing testing and troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineers and production teams.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent with 0–3 years related experience
• Diploma in Photonics or Mechanical Engineering Technology preferred
• ISO 9000/AS9100 and Lean Manufacturing experience is a plus
• Lean principles knowledge is a plus, not required
• Ability to lift up to 30 lbs and handle delicate optical parts
• Eligible for Controlled Goods Program of Canada
• Operates precision optics and diamond-turned CNC equipment
• Ontario wage range $24–$27/hr is posted

Responsibilities

• Interpret optical and mechanical schematics and execute assembly, integration and test procedures
• Grind, polish, edging, turning and troubleshoot optical components per AS9100
• Diagnose spherical and aspheric optics; inspect to drawings (PV/RMS/AST)
• Collaborate with senior technicians and engineers to resolve faults
• Manage multiple priorities and testing to meet production timelines
• Collaborate with operation engineers, production teams and management
• Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance, tests and solutions
• Identify process inefficiencies and drive continuous improvement
