A leading engineering firm in British Columbia is seeking a 2nd Class Engineer to ensure safety and compliance in the operation of high-pressure boilers. The role requires a minimum of five years of experience and proven supervisory skills. Ideal candidates will have strong problem-solving abilities and effective communication skills. The position offers a competitive salary and an on-site working location in the vibrant community of Skookumchuck, BC.
2nd Class Engineer with solid supervisory and people skills, up and above that of a Shift Supervisor.
Ensures operating parameters are met and any non-conformances are properly logged along with the corrective actions taken.
Ensures all equipment is maintained and operated in a safe and efficient manner. Also responsible for the safe Emergency Shutdown Practices of the Recovery Boiler and all Power and Recovery equipment as required.
Maintains a high standard of safety by ensuring safe and correct work are followed.
Ensures processes are operated in compliance with environmental procedures. Address and report on all environmental incidents on shift.
Alerts applicable department of requirement to curtail or stop production to keep the mill within its environmental permit limits.
Ensures crew capability to work safely is achieved by assessing needs and supplying appropriate safety training and mentoring.
Involves crew members in safety meetings, ensures safety issues are escalated and communicated with documentation.
Incident investigations, audits and safety checklists are properly reported and action items are completed on time.
Housekeeping standards are being met.
Be aware of environmental responsibilities and maintain compliance with environmental regulations.
Valid Inter-provincial or Second Class Power Engineer Certificate
Minimum five (5) years experience with high-pressure boilers and auxiliary equipment, Pulp mill experience preferred.
Effectively communicate the operation of the Power and Recovery Department functions as it applies to mill production processes.
Demonstrated leadership in problem-solving techniques, troubleshooting and resolving technical, operation and personnel matters.
Effective communications and interpersonal skills to respond to internal customer needs and enhance team work.
